Our last article of the calendar year - which, sadly, could not be accompanied by points on the pitch.
Hoping for (but not, at this stage, banking on!) some better times in 2016...

Good afternoon, and welcome to Edgeley Park for today’s Boxing Day fixture against Harrogate. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed themselves yesterday - but it’s back to business now, as we seek to claim our first three post-Christmas points.
If you have visited County Heaven over the past few weeks, you will have noticed that our ‘Director of Technology and Design’ (a title I’ve just given him), Gazza, has once again worked wonders to give the site a Christmas makeover. Not only have we got a new backdrop featuring bells and holly, but we even have snow!
Elsewhere, my last quiz of 2015 was recently won by Archie, following an early guess on the link. See if you can work out what connects the following players: Jimmy Meadows, Calum Davenport, Graham Alexander and David Ginola, then pop along to County Heaven to check if you’re right!
Lastly, you might recall we are in the process of compiling our very own A-Z of the most heinous crimes against humanity, in C.H.I.V.E. (County Heaven’s Indexed Vault of Evil). Since I last updated you, we have added ‘London’, ‘Manufactured Modern Music’, ‘Names of Car Colours’, ‘Online Gambling’, ‘Pulmonates’ and ‘Queue Jumpers’ into the vault.
Now then, Maccy, a little bird tells me you pulled a cracker over Christmas. Does Mrs Macc know?

The rumours are true, Sandy. When I met her, she was standing between the two Cheadle End goalposts. Went by the name of Annette... arf!
Well, it’s been the usual roller-coaster of a ride with County since our last notes, eh? Two matches in succession were played in especially blustery conditions - and while we might have been somewhat gone with the wind here, losing by the odd goal in three against FC United, we certainly rode like the wind a week later, scoring four in the second half without reply, at Corby.
But, sadly, it was a case of going from the ‘Yo Corby!’ to the ‘Oh Corb-lime-y!’ for our last match before Christmas. Having once again travelled way out East, and over a not-dissimilar distance, we ourselves went down by an identical scoreline at the hands of Boston.
The one saving grace of a miserable afternoon was the serving at York Street of mint sauce with pie and mushy peas - without doubt, a serious contender for Hatter in Macc’s end-of-season catering award.
As today’s fixture will be the final one at home of 2015, let us end by extending wishes for a very happy and successful New Year - both to Hatters everywhere, and to our guests this afternoon from Harrogate.
Wetherby Road was, in my view, the friendliest place that County visited last season. And - with half an eye, as ever, on the potential for away-day foodie solace - I only hope that their truly scrumptious pulled pork sandwiches are still on the menu when we return there a week today!
Enjoy the game.
