OK, another day at work done...one closer to the festivities
Here is my thoughts on my post last night...
The last 18 months I mention have been fairly immense TBH, in terms of what has been achieved off the field.
Park/Bramhall started by removing Ryan McNight, which was a really good start, bringing in Steve B and George H, again a shrewd moves IMO.
Since then the list of progression is impressive, including removal of numerous silent shareholders and their debt, securing Edgeley Park (a massive achievement), reducing overheads considerably while at the same time increasing revenue (by rekindling various lapsed sponsors for instance), and the re-introduction of tickets for schools. Bringing in other people who have County at heart continued the theme of populating the club with people that care.
The result is a club that is now much more viable than it was, whilst at the same time maintaining what is without doubt a very competitive budget for this league. The managers job going to NY looked like a sound appointment, so it was with quiet confidence, with our budget and manager, that the club issued our aim this year which was "nothing but promotion", and I can see why they thought this was a strong possibility this term...we should be doing better than we are, but failing pulling on a shirt themselves anyone at the club cannot do a lot more to win games, that is down to NY and his squad.
NY is fully aware of the expectations of both fans and club, and at this point in time is still backed by the club and is up for the challenge to correct results. As I said in an earlier post, the off field stuff will mainly be judged by on field results...it is so important the fans can see progression in terms of results. Everyone knows this and I can't see anyone (bar maybe the players!) doing everything they can to deliver. NY and his managerial team are ever so dedicated, I really hope he can make it for us, as to be honest I do not think two managers every season will ever get us anywhere.
As for what is being done now and in the future, apart from NY doing his utmost to correct performances and results, well removing debt is off the highest priority, and is being worked on as I type, but done in the right way, ie professionally and out of the public eye for obvious reasons. If deals can be struck we will be left with a football club that is close to break even, with a competitive budget and in a different place to the one Park / Bramhall took over 18 months ago. A club that with our fan base, history, and viability plus hopefully lack of debt could be a real proposition for the investment we need to take us to the next level.
It is all sensible stuff. Nothing being done is either irresponsible or jeopardising our long term future.
We fell more than many realise...and it will take longer than most would like to recover, but recover we will from what I see.
The task would be much easier with a winning team, as having fans onside is absolutely vital....over to you NY and all of you that pull a County shirt on every Saturday...
Rest assured nobody is giving in, nobody is trying any less, nobody is taking our fantastic support for granted, nobody is satisfied with league 6 and all that can be done, bearing in mind all I have said in the last couple of posts, is being done.
I still have faith, but also not scared to admit it remains a long way back from where we were, and there is still a hell of a lot to do.
I believe we have the right people to do it.
