Well, it may well come to be at a later date - if County issue the original programme whenever the rearranged match is eventually played. And we will possibly use bits and pieces of the text for the Histon game in a fortnight's time. But quite a chunk of it will soon become outdated - and we just figured that Heaveners might like to have something to read while kicking their heels this afternoon!
So, here's today's article in the form it was intended...

Afternoon, everyone – and Happy New Year!
As the season of goodwill is still fresh in the memory, I shall also (begrudgingly) welcome those visiting fans, despite the fact I have only recently composed myself following their last-minute winner at Rivacre Park in September. My decision never again to buy a Vauxhall still stands, however, although in truth this is mostly down to the Corsa I owned many years ago, and less about that result.
Due to printing deadlines, we had to submit our ‘Star Wars trilogy’ of articles well in advance of Christmas week, so, to deal with some housekeeping, congratulations go to Sir Roger, Lennie and Maccy for winning the respective limerick competitions associated with each match. And, since Lennie was triumphant in his own limerick competition, rumours of FIFA-like corruption at CHHQ were not helped by Downy also winning his own prediction league in December. Perhaps I should start entering my quiz…?
Lennie is also currently leading the County Heaven Fantasy Football league, although Archie, Market Harborough and Bradninch are hot on his tail, and don’t dismiss yours truly in sixth, despite my (self-imposed) ban on any United or City players!
Lastly, County Heaven has settled nicely into its new home, and, at the time of writing, we’re awaiting our 50th new member since the move – could it be you? Although don’t expect to win anything if it is!
Now then, I read something the other day about a ‘Proposed Macc Takeover’. Not buying County are you?

Sadly, buddy, it’s a misprint. For ‘over’, read ’away’. We’re about to get our first kebab house in my part of the world…
But, hey – aren’t County on a healthy run of form right now! Since our last notes were written, ahead of Oxford City’s visit here, there have been four games played, in which the Boys in Blue have put away a whopping 12 (TWELVE!) goals, while conceding just three. More importantly, only two points have been dropped – and, were it not for the baffling failure to award a late, clear-as-day penalty against Workington, we would surely now be celebrating a quartet of straight victories.
County saved the best until most recently, with a fruitful five (in) a day at Gainsborough. This not only yielded a first ‘double’ of the season, but also had Heaveners foraging the record books to remind ourselves of when we had last enjoyed a ‘high five’ goals-haul away from home. (For those of you similarly interested in such things, it was at Darlington on the last day of the 2006/07 campaign.) Certainly, for this happy travelling fan, who had turned up at Bradford Park Avenue three days earlier when he hadn’t needed to, last Saturday’s demolition-job more than made up for the late postponement on New Year’s Day!
No chance, of course, that we can ‘do a double’ against this afternoon’s opponents, given our defeat in South Wirral during September – but another three points are always possible. Secure them, and County could really be… erm, Motoring!
Enjoy the game.
