Today I had a very brief catch-up with County's new German signing, Yusuf Coban...
Here is what he had to say!
Being born in Germany, your homeland has some of the biggest clubs in the World with Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, HSV etc. but obviously you've come to try your luck in England. Why did you choose to play in England over Germany?
There are many great leagues in Europe but the Premier League is the best league in football and which footballer doesn't want to play at the very top level?
Did you know anything about Stockport County before signing for the club on loan?
Yes I have heard about the club and all of it's history!
Did you have any hesitation about dropping down to the Sixth Division? Or were you just happy for the chance to prove yourself?
No hesitation at all! For me, it doesn't matter what level I play at, I always try to do my best for the team and this is my first ever loan so it will be a great experience.
Officially what position would you call yourself? An outright Striker or something slightly different?
Striker!
County are doing okay in the league but have been perhaps missing a couple of pieces to make a real title challenge. Do you feel that you and fellow new recruit Dale Tonge can help fill these gaps?
All I can say is that I will do my best for the club and I'm sure that Dale Tonge will be do the same thing.
Moving away from County for a little while, you're obviously only young so have plenty of time to achieve great things but what is your proudest achievement so far in your career?
My national team call up for Germany and my hat-trick against Manchester United the first time we played them, we came back from 3-0 down to win 4-3.
When you were growing up, which team did you follow?
FC Barcelona
Did you always want to be a footballer or did you ever want to do something else instead?
Always wanted to be a footballer.
In the 90s Stockport and Stoke had a bit of a rivalry before both teams went in opposite directions. Did you know about this at all?
No, I didn't know anything about this!
Can you play any other positions well or can you only play as a forward?
I mainly play up-front but I can also play in a number 10 position as well as on the wings. I'm very flexible where I can play.
Finally, of course we wish you the very best of luck during your spell with us and afterwards, do you have any final thoughts on County or our chances of promotion?
Thank you very much. I'm looking forward to working with the club and can't wait to see the great supporters. I am a very optimistic person therefore I am a very positive about the willingness of the club and also myself to fight for promotion!
Huge thanks to Yusuf for answering a few of my questions. If you want to follow Yusuf on Twitter his account name is @yusufcoban10.
