Epworth: glad that you are enjoying life on Heaven!
Gazza: my recollection of the County scorers against WBA is slightly different - Jimbo (2), Kev, Carstairs, Big Willow.
That could, of course, be wrong, too! What I do remember very clearly is the absolute joy that greeted Big Willow's goal. He only had to tap it in, after Chrissy B did all the hard work (and could have scored himself, but was admirably selfless), but clearly relished putting one over the club where things had not worked out for him - not to mention the Baggies fans who had been getting on his back all afternoon. Sweet times.
Jim Carstairs, I think, was only 21 when he played for us. Looking at him, and his roughly-hewn features which made him look at least ten years older, all I could ever think was: "My God, he must have done some hedonistic living as a teenager!"

I know Kev got one that rolled in off his body as he was almost lay down on the goal line, I remember Carstairs being a rebound off the bar and he headed it in during a goalmouth scramble, Big Willow had nothing to do thanks to typically unselfish donkey work from Chris, but I don't remember Jim's goals. I could have sworn Muir got one, maybe I'm thinking of a different game?
There I was basking in the glory of having sucessfully dusted the cobwebs off too! lol

My clearest memory was the fifth goal from a corner. I was stood right behind the goal and Jimbo arrived in the box and loudly declared, 'I want 5'. We duly scored. Beautiful.
Gazza - I was at Wembley for the Port Vale game. I remember after 'that' disallowed goal us County fans sang non-stop for the rest of the game. Literally, we did not stop. It must have been for 20-30 minutes without a break. My throat was sore for days.
(I'm now doubting my recollection as I was at the Stoke defeat, too) Did I mention I've got 2 small children?
That also means I have been to Wembley three times as I was at the Rochdale Play Off Final in 2008 - another factual innacuracy in my Intro - and one my Bro missed - ha).

The disallowed goal v Stoke at Wembley was ridiculous, Paul Wheeler went up with Peter Fox who went down like a sack of potatoes, cue the referee blowing his whistle. I am also convinced that (according to the offside law at that time) Wayne Biggins was trotting back from an offside position when the ball was played over the top for Stein, so their goal should never have stood.
That final in 1993 v Vale was the best experience I have ever had supporting County. I still get a lump in my throat whenever I watch Kev loop that header over Musselwhite, we showed the world what real support is, and although Vale walked away from Wembley with the silverware, we were the real winners that day.

For those of you who think I don't know my left from right, remember one day the boot will be on the other foot.

i didn't go to that one cos i was living in oxford, but one of my workmates had a fiver on with me that west brom would win. he was laughing when we heard they were one up on the radio. later though...kerching! as we were doing paid (living expenses) voluntary work, a 1993 fiver was no laughing matter. except for me, obviously...

four wembley visits in three seasons...twice in eight days...mental! i wasn't that bothered by either of the autoglass/windscreen finals, but the play-offs were a different matter. horrible. i will always remember the elation at kev's late equaliser just when it seemed all was lost, followed by that lump upfield, and an admittedly cracking finish by that lump charlery. '94 was just as bad...all the players at the end just wandering around dazed like they knew we'd gone as far as we could and the team would start to break up.

'94 was just as bad...all the players at the end just wandering around dazed like they knew we'd gone as far as we could and the team would start to break up. '94 was the one that ruined Danny's mojo, he wasn't quite the same after that, nor was Kev. That final gutted me the most because we'd actually gone in front and were looking like walking it into the first division. That utter w**ker Elleray handed them that game, and the six-fingered clan haven't looked back since. That's as bad as I've ever felt after a County defeat, and what made it worse was that in the week or so leading up to the final, Elwood had gone on record in the local media saying we couldn't afford to go up, that really angered me. It just didn't compute for weeks, massive lead over them in the league going into the play-offs, 1-0 up and cruising, and Chris being sent off............ I really did feel like I had been swept into an alternate reality. Elleray can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned, stuck up little sh*t.

Vale was amazing, still brings a lump to my.........
Throat you rude people
Have to agree that the Burnley defeat was the worst. The first time we had been in front felt fantastic. We were low down behind the goal when the bit of aggro kicked off and an old man who'd offered my little sister-in-law an apple was never seen again!

Good times. I was standing on the Pop Side... pretty much around the same spot where I still sit today.
Cheers for the link, harrogate!
