As indeed does this www.theguardian.com/society/2018/jan/25/nadhim-zahawi-facing-more-pressure-over-presidents-club-eventCurious how it only became a problem to him after his attendance had been revealed. This appointment has far more to do with Tory attempts to whitewash its abysmal record of racism. It's interesting to note that they've been cheerfully calling the Labour Party out on anti-semitism whilst Johnson quietly scrapped the investigation into anti-muslim racism within his own Party, racism so bad that one Muslim Tory described membership of the Party as being like involvement in an abusive relationship. Perhaps one should not be unduly surprised given that Johnson is himself given to casual racism. "Zahawi, the minister for children and families, was given a “dressing down” by the Tory chief whip, Julian Smith, on Wednesday night, after he admitted having attended the event." No doubt seen as the 'traffic duty' of ministerial appointments.

A horrifying listen. We're in the middle of the nation's biggest crisis since WW2, where they used to shoot looters, it's just a shame we can't do that with Johnson and the rest of the oily bastards responsible - line them all up against a wall and let them have it. The lot of them should be f***ing jailed.

The lot of them should be f***ing jailed. I particularly liked the bit about the character who, as a result of his association with the Tories went from running a small, loss-making business into one who bought a 100 acre manor in the Cotswolds as a result of untendered contracts worth hundreds of millions of pounds awarded to him during the pandemic. It's worth highlighting that. This individual went from being an unsuccessful businessman to multi-millionaire within weeks, and he achieved that having trousered vast amounts of public money handed over as a result of his political association. And the media response? When there's been one at all it's to dress it up as some kind of jolly old Etonian jest. What we used to call disingenuousness, bullshit and good old fashioned dishonesty, is now called boosterism and because corruption is such an ugly word we've dreamed up the word chumocracy in its stead. It seems that nothing, no matter how blatant and in your face, should be allowed to puncture the myth of Tory competence and probity in Government.

My solution of leaving the country feels like a better option on an almost daily basis.

An "independent" inquiry is due to take place some time in the future that will look into the Governments handling of the response to the pandemic. It will operate along the same lines as the inquiry into Priti Patel therefore the outcome will already have been determined with the Conservatives absolved of any wrongdoing. Donors to the party - seemingly the sole recipients of Government contracts awarded over the last year - will be thanked on behalf of a grateful nation. Johnson will thank the members of the inquiry and formally close the matter.
The media will not report on it preferring to focus on the "Festival of Brexit" planned for the late summer .
