Good evening, fellow Happy Heaveners - I can see all those smiles from here...
Here's Part Two of our festive trilogy of articles, taken from this afternoon's programme. Enjoy!

Happy Boxing Day, everyone! Hope that you all had a Heaven-ly Christmas, and - bearing in mind that printing deadlines require us to complete these festive articles over a week beforehand - your celebrations were joyously boosted/supremely unaffected/not unduly ruined by County’s fine victory/workmanlike draw/calamitous surrender against Oxford City (delete as applicable)!
Starting today, it will be a case of rolling back the Football League years with the next three teams that County play, as they all, like us, once proudly enjoyed Big(ger)-Time status. A good few Hatters will no doubt still recall tussles with The Avenue, as well as with Saturday’s opponents from Workington, in the ‘old’ Third and Fourth Divisions. We might admittedly, however, be pushing it to find any survivors from when County took on Gainsborough in the second tier, given that this season marks the centenary of The Trinity’s drop into Non-league-land!
Unless, of course, you know different...
Back on County Heaven, voting for the forum’s annual Awards has just ended, and, through this and the next articles, I shall reveal the lucky winners. The Workington programme will cover prizes going to individual Heaveners and CH-inspired activities, but, for now, there is just space to announce those connected with the Club more widely:
Player of 2013: Alex Kenyon. (Runners-up: Phil Jevons and Rhys Turner.)
Game of 2013: Beating Telford 4-2 last month. (Runners-up: winning at Alfreton, and on home turf against Gainsborough and Worcester.)
Rumour of 2013: Anything Chinese.
Enjoy the game. Now, heeeeeeeeere’s Sandy!

Thanks, Maccy - and welcome to those fans from Bradford P.A. Uncannily, my former P.A. has recently moved to Bradford (well, it’s actually nearer Leeds but then the joke wouldn’t have worked).
Continuing the Star Wars theme I started in Saturday’s County Life for the trilogy of games this week, it makes this our Empire Strikes Back article - so expect it to be much darker and have a disappointing ending (hopefully unlike the match). In addition, CH currently resembles Planet Hoth - as we’re covered in snow - and County, like Luke, have recently lost a Hand (Jamie, to Southport).
Congratulations to our very own Yoda (no, not Sirius, although she is a similar height), Hatter in Macc, for winning my Christmas Quiz by some margin – powerful with the force he has become! To give you non-Heaveners a flavour of what you’re missing, here’s a mini-quiz for you to have a go at:
1. Which Spanish striker joined Manchester City in June 2013?
2. Which defender played for both Wimbledon and AFC Wimbledon?
3. Where do Southampton play their home games?
4. Who are Lewis, Marlon and Ledley?
5. Which striker returned to County in 1996 for a £120,000 fee?
Once you have worked out the answers, what links them together? If you want to find out, you’ll have to visit County Heaven or buy Saturday’s programme!
Speaking of competitions, I would also like to belatedly congratulate the winner of November’s Prediction League, dpc, who deservedly beat me on the tie-break question – a fine (Han) Solo effort.
Told you it wouldn’t be a very good ending.
Animo et Fide.
