The national media have tended to lump Bury and Bolton together because they're geographically close but they look to be very different cases to me. Bolton is in administration and the people there are going through the standard processes.
Bury was/is not in administration (unusual in itself) and the more I look at it the more I see mentions of the ground and the various charges on it that make the club an unattractive proposition. You have to wonder whether there's a property development scheme under wraps somewhere. The EFL have taken knocks on allowing Dale to take over but they were presented with a deal that was already complete and if they hadn't allowed him to move in the club would probably have folded back then.
A big part of stabilising County was converting the directors' loans to shares and I think that the EFL could look at this with a view to making it impossible to force a shutdown to call in a loan.
Going forward, I think that more regional football is the logical way to keep down costs and I'd even consider it for all leagues below the Championship. More feasible though is to start the process off with League 2 and down. Carlisle going down to Exeter and Plymouth is a nonsense.

There really is some sh*te written in The Guardian at times! This government are on the brink of destroying the country on the basis of an ADVISORY referendum, with the opposition doing little to f*** all about it - so how the hell can this paper even entertain the notion that parliament can have a positive influence on League football? Astonishing. If Johnson has his way, parliament won't have a say...full stop. Anybody who voted for Brexit on the grounds of restoring sovereignty to parliament got a view on the role of democracy when a PM "elected" by approximately 93000 Tories takes it upon himself to shut down parliament because he doesn't think he'll get his way? I won't hold my breath waiting.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49526433I have a certain amount of sympathy for Bury supporters, or at least the handful who were supportive of us when we needed it, but the league really can't make a special case of them. Absolutely they should be down at regional level otherwise they are taking a place from a club that has played by the rules.

I saw this posted on MB and one particular quote was highlighted... www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bury-fc-news-gary-neville-16854210Neville is, of course, part of the ownership group that took control of, and helped non-league Salford City to rise into the EFL with a flurry of promotions.
And he hopes Bury can now follow in Salford’s footsteps, not by trusting in wealthy owners, but by supporters taking control of the club themselves.I honestly don't know where to start with that!

I never said Neville said it, I was highlighting the media claptrap that is often written regarding Salford's 'class of 92' rise as some kind of 'fairytale', as if they've done it through hard work and nothing else. Neville and co. get all the credit and it's painted in the media as a humble effort, when they are just a front for a billionaire's 'plaything'.

Right up there with the NRA's assertion that "Guns don't kill people". so if the NRA's solution is more guns, is the inter ultras' more racists? we've got a country half full of isolationist xenophobes, so you can recruit them if you like.
