Good times for a change...
Enjoy basking in the afterglow of a home win, while tucking into the starter-course of our festive trilogy of programme articles!

Good afternoon!
Well, here we are with a trilogy of home games in the space of one festive week! Hopefully, the ‘rule of three’ (or omne trium perfectum for you Latin-lovers) will come true and good things really will come in threes - with County picking up some much needed points.
I was initially apprehensive about writing three articles in such a short space of time, but I have decided to draw inspiration from that classic trilogy Star Wars. So, with this being the first installment, let me explain why County Heaven has A New Hope.
Or should I say A New Home? If you weren’t at the Brackley match (or you were but didn’t purchase County Life) then you might not know we’ve moved to www.countyheaven.freeforums.net. Thanks to our very own Han and Chewie (Gazza and Fudgie), it’s bigger and better than ever so make sure you sign up and join in the Bantha and debate (see what I did there?!).
The second reason for new hope is that we Heaveners are, it seems, a fertile bunch. You might remember that our good friend Jarkko recently became a father, and he has flown in from Norway for today’s game to give baby Johanne her first EP experience! Huge belated congratulations also go to Oshorwilliamsrightpeg and his partner who recently welcomed a new Oshorette into the world. Lastly, I’m delighted to announce that I too will become a father again in the New Year, so that’s three young padawans for the future! Hopefully none will be tempted by the Dark Side of Manchester…
Hey, Maccy, I know what you’re getting for Christmas… I have felt your presents!

Oi... if you can feel my presents, then leave this place!
More festive greetings anon, but, first, to the business of the day - and welcome to Oxford City, who this afternoon will become the first team to complete their 2013/14 League encounters with us (although it feels like Barrow did so, several weeks ago!). Hopefully, County can bounce back from the disappointing defeat against Brackley last Saturday, and, in the process, go some way towards avenging a rather emphatic November reverse at the hands of today’s opponents in the city of dreaming spires.
County Heaveners are always keen to wish the Club’s incoming players well, and so give shout-outs this afternoon - albeit a little belatedly - to Mark Lees and Adam Cowen (who took their EP bows when we hosted North Ferriby and Brackley, respectively), as well as to Chris Churchman and James Washburn.
I must confess to something of a mental block about the latter’s name, having referred to James as ‘Welshman’ when reporting from the recent ‘mid-season break’ friendly at Mossley, and, being a proud Celt, now find it difficult to get that out of my head. My new Kevin ‘Mad Richard’ Ellison, if you will... although you’d need to buy one of the last few available copies of our ‘C.H.A.O.S.’ book to discover more about HIM!
Just enough space left to wish a very Happy Christmas to everyone here today, and, most of all, naturally, to our readers (that’s Mr and Mrs Reader from Bredbury... oh, hang on - didn’t we trot out that old gag this time last year?)!
Enjoy the game.
