Another Saturday, another visiting team from Tameside, another 'SK Derby'... and, hopefully, another three points!
You know what to do...

Too scared to even predict! We should win but the potential embarassment factor is so high if we fail to win, or even worse lose!!

I'm looking forward to this one as Lordy willhave given the team such a rocket they will have to go out and perform and not leave it to chance ( a bit strong; but you know what I mean...).
Looking at the clubs above us not only are we down on points (obviously) but our Goal Difference is not good. Not tempting fate but its these kind of games where we need to be firing on all cylinders and dictating the game. I seem to remember not so long ago (yes in the days of Rhys Turner)we used to start the game with an all out relentless attack to set us up well before half time... not sure whats happened to that now..
I'll go for 4-1 with a mammoth attendance of 3318

BANANA SKIN ALERT ! No room for complacency what so ever tomorrow...Lordy should be drumming that into the players. Go for the kill. The GD could help. I'll go for 3-0 with 2,950 in attendance. Others we could do with slipping up tomorrow don't have such hard games either... Barrow v Solihull - home win ? Boston v Bradford PA - away win Chorley v Gloucester City - away win Guiseley v Hednesford - draw I think North Ferriby v Tamworth - home win Oxford City v Lowestoft - away win Stockport v Hyde - home win All of those could go against us this week Main thing is...we win !!!

bit of a weird one this. we were well in control first half, but nearly succumbed to an equaliser right on half time, then cruising at 2-0 only to let hyde create quite a few chances, from which they should have scored at least one. of course, if that had happened, we'd have been in squeaky bum territory. but it didn't and we've taken ten out of the last twelve available points.
and that's a bit weird too; because when you see a run of fixtures which includes three home games against strugglers, you are certainly hoping to take nine points from them, except it often doesn't work out like that. so we've managed it, and that is a very good thing; but i've not been convinced by us for quite some time. probably since early november. we've managed to bag the maximum points available from these three home games, and the team have to be credited for getting the job done, but i definitely think there's a way to go performance wise. bradford (if on, etc) is another chance against a struggling club, second bottom this time (albeit with a clutch of games in hand), and the more points we put on the board, the more realistic a proposition we become, so that those games at edgeley later on against oxford and chorley could still have real significance.
my brother and his girlfriend were there today as well as my cousin and his kids, so i chatted my way through even more of the action than usual. consequently i didn't even realise we'd hit the bar until i read hedge's report. was a bit disappointed to hear driving in that woolfe was starting. i think there were two big disappointments from our summer recruitment, and one of them is a disappointment because he's on remand! woolfe hasn't proved himself on the pitch at all. today though, was by miles his best performance for us, and i hope that and the applause he got when he he was subbed will help his confidence. several great crosses, including an assist and a should-have-been, a few dangerous corners, and most importantly of all...an effect on the game.
thought we were pretty comfortable first half although we weren't making loads of gilt-edged chances. a few shots went off target, woolfe cut inside and hit a shot into the 'keeper's midriff. we were up out of our seats when he put in a great cross for glover to head it past the 'keeper...and wide. we all thought it was in from our angle, and if they'd bothered to bring more than a carful, we'd probably have heard a "you thought you had scored..." from the hyde contingent.
we got ahead through an error which put in kristian dennis. i've seen a few good finishes into the bottom left hand corner from him from that position, and he stuck it that way with aplomb. hyde offered little until first half injury time, when hurst had to dive to his right fingertip over an effort which looked destined for the top corner. a great save and at a crucial moment of the match - it would have been extremely deflating if we'd gone in level at half time.
early in the second half we doubled our lead. dennis did well to intercept a loose pass to the right of midfield, and hit a long diagonal ball to woolfe. his cross looked perfect, and after he'd failed in the rehearsal, danny glover made no mistake on this occasion. thought 2-0 was a deserved lead, but hyde started to come back into it, and while we also had a few chances in the remainder of the game, hyde made a concerning number of their own. most notable was a great run from one of theirs, slaloming past two or three county players before hitting a shot which hurst saved well with his foot. another good save, and i wouldn't have liked to see what we were made of if it had gone to 2-1. we may well have seen it out, but like since77 said, it was a potential banana skin, so i'm glad we didn't put it to the test.
glover played well and got MoM, but i'd probably have had hurst for being excellent on the few occasions he was called on. dennis scored one and had a hand in the other, which is a decent return. sharp worked hard and did ok in the air. with ryan now apparently signed on for the season and spencer getting a run out on his return from injury, we must have about the most strength in depth up front in this division with a very decent five. for me only duxbury was a bit suspect today, and for the second week running he struggled a bit against his winger. didn't cost us though and hopefully he'll play his way into form. surprising that him and jacobs looked our weak links last week when they were (apart from jevons) probably our best performers last season. again though, they've both missed a lot of football this season so surely we can expect a significant improvement from both.
looking at the table the league is closing up somewhat at the top end. means that we're position to push up a couple of places if we perform, but possibly get passed if we don't. could do with a win at bradford because that looks -on paper- the easier of the two league away trips this week.

Up in the Press Box, there was some confusion as to the nam of their number 5, Perry NG. It turns out that that is his ACTUAL name, to oir surprise, It was just a typo on the team sheet as it should have said Perry Ng which would have made more sense...

Similarly, there were multiple typos in that last comment.

TBF we were poor yesterday, BUT did exactly what was needed at the same time.
We have TWO games this coming week so maybe that had some effect, although I'd expect to see a youthful team out on Monday.
IF Flyde beat Boston at home Tues night, and we can sort our away form out and beat BPA on Wednesday then we'll sitting in 5th place, 1 point behind Hednesford in 4th, and 4 points behind 3rd place Tamworth but with a game in hand. Yes, other have games in hand also but all we can do is win our next game, and so on.
Maybe just maybe with a couple of decent away performances in the next week people will start to believe a little more...crowds will rise, noise will rise and the 12th man, our strength, will have a part to play.
It all starts at Bradford....COME ON COUNTY
Oh BTW, next Saturday see's these beauties...
Guiseley v Boston Harrogate v Chorley Tamworth v Oxford

I think we knew what we needed to do against Hyde yesterday and we did it.
We were solid without ever looking spectacular, just what the doctor ordered! In previous seasons we'd have toiled to a disappointing 1-1 draw or even a loss! This season we got the lead and aside from one or two scary moments never looked out of control.

Said it before and I'll keep saying it, league tables don't give a f**k about performances, shots on target, possession and pass completion stats. Ball in the onion bag, points on the board.
Job done.

well there's two sides to it - inarguable points on the board but the feeling that it will be hard to keep winning if we don't up our performances. we've given ourselves a platform with these wins though, so well pleased with that as you can often look ahead thinking 'that should be nine points' and then don't get them.
