Greetings to all County fans and those who found there way here by accident magic or those who couldn't spell Southport fc lol
I am a hatter of 34 seasons my first game being way back in 79/80 season home to Walsall 1-0 win.
Without wishing to sound like a smart arris you may have heard me more recently on post match on Pure texting in as STU IN EDGELEY.
I recently said that we have no right to win this league and I stand by that comment.
I also said this team needs time to gell properly this is very much the case.
regardless of the financial issues the team need to form a bond which I believe isn't there and has been missing for a while.
any player can respect a manager etc... but it is respect and trust in each other off and on field that matters.
Other clubs in our region have proved this and I don't mean those pushed into success by mountains of money.
Teams such as Cheadle Town, Stockport Sports , New Mills and our own local stockport amateur divisions proved every week they are committed to their clubs and fight like hell to get results.
Cale Green are our no1 local amateur side right now and have proved with effort and commitment at whatever level goals can be achieved and then indeed repeated.
But they didn't get there through multi- million pound transfer fees and wages it was done by effort and feeling the privilege it is to cross that white line and play for a team.
This attitude is lacking in some players at County and it is disgraceful that it does - certain players show no pride in their career - they mustn't or they would be doing their best to fight for a place in the team.
Fans are staying away preferring to not waste money watching a team that is not fully committed.
less than 2000 fans at home to Brackley proves that more and more people are losing faith - the reasons are well known and until resolved these numbers will continue to fall.
We may one have been a "big club" in terms of the status we had in league 2 in 2007/08 but we are no longer a "big club" and some fans need to see this and stop looking at it from the point of view that we have the right to succeed because we are who we are - utter rubbish.
we are " where we are" because the club is in total free fall in all aspects and the right to win has to be earned and is not a "given" just because we used to be bigger than we are now.
We have no right to beat Brackley or any other team until we start performing as a team who believe in themselves as players and as a team.
All I see is 11 people in blue shirts who are at times not sure if they know each other from somewhere but are not sure where - change that and results will come - that's down to the players not the manager.
Shape up or ship out.
Highlights of this lecture are not available in the shop or on demand so ner !
Bought the new Danny B book and an halfway through it up to 1990/91 and its very interesting !
I was there at his funeral In Sheffield and thought It was just a memorial service and not the actual funeral service until I saw Danny being brought into the chapel.
It was a humbling experience and I will always be grateful to him for giving me something to be proud of STOCKPORT COUNTY FC !
Maybe our players need to read the chapter about how Danny sees coaching and player attitudes to it !
