James Wade has won the 2021 UK Open. An incredible achievement in itself considering his form in recent years, but when you consider the dark place he's been in with his mental health, it's even more remarkable. His victory tonight should not only be headline news in the Darts pages, but also the wider media in general, as his battle with mental health issues has been a long and hard one, with more troughs than peaks. This should be announced everywhere possible, for the benefit of all those suffering alone and in silence, that there IS a light at the end of the tunnel. Well done, Wadey!

Big congrats to Jonny Clayton on winning the PDC Darts Premier League in his debut season last night. Beating two of the favourites for the tournament in the semi-final and final respectively, the gutsy Welshman had to earn it and thoroughly deserves the title. A fantastic achievement and, although he's already won a TV tournament, it's good to see him follow up his brilliant Masters win with one of the very big titles. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/darts/57270163

Gerwyn Price hit a brilliant 9-darter at the World Matchplay in Blackpool tonight, on his way to booking his place in the final by beating Danny Noppert.
The world number two also reclaimed his number one spot from Peter Wright with this win, as the guaranteed prize money from the place in the final is more than the difference that had Wright at number one going into this tournament.
All in all, it was a good night's work!

Good luck to Stockport's Nathan Aspinall in tomorrow's World Matchplay final at the Winter Gardens against another favourite of mine, Welshman Jonny Clayton.
Obviously I want Nathan to win as he's a Stockport lad and a really nice lad to boot, having met him myself.
If Jonny is to win, however, then I'll be pleased for him too. He's a proper darts player that just goes up there and throws his darts with no nonsense, respects his opponents and seems like a really nice bloke too.
It's rare that I get to watch a final where I'll be disappointed for one player but chuffed for the other, so I'm really looking forward to it.
I just hope it's a great match with both players at their very best.

Nathan wins in the final with an absolutely incredible performance, 18-6.
Jonny didn't really turn up tonight which was not nice to see, but he's had a great week and should be happy with that on the whole.
Nathan has done himself and Stockport proud, though and has now won the second biggest tournament in darts!
Well played, both and congratulations to Nathan!

Fat Gurning still as irritating as ever. Apparently, he's in the middle of some extensive dental work which will involve having his jaw broken in the new year.
I can save him some serious money if he's willing to let me have a go first.
Fat b*****d.

I know you don't like him, Duds, but I think he's brilliant and that was bloody painful to watch. Ultimately pleased for Dolan, though, because he's one of the good guys who throws his darts without any nonsense and thoroughly deserved the win. Humphries and Cullen played a great game last night too, with nobody really deserving to lose. Humphries really does have to up his game from now on, though, if he's to prove me right for advising my girlfriend's sister to bet on him months ago. Can Littler do the unthinkable? It would be incredible if he can pull it off! I can't help feeling that the whole thing is just falling into Shrek's hands again, though - I seriously hope not.

There are many others I dislike more. He seems like a really decent bloke.

16 year-old Luke Littler from Warrington has just blown former World Champion Rob Cross off the Ally Pally stage, winning his semi-final 6-2 to become the youngest ever player to reach the World Darts Championship final.
He even managed to nail a brilliant Bull, Bull, D16 outshot along the way.
This kid really is an incredible talent, it's frightening just how good he could become.
