Morning all.
Welcome to the final finale of 2013! Remember, only 4 clues this week (but still 5 points to play for today) and the winner will be announced on Friday morning!
Please can I have everyone's answers to the following tie-break question by no later than midday on Thursday:
What will be the attendance at Grimsby v Kidderminster on Thursday evening in the Skrill Premier?
Right, off we go....

Stop what you're doing and put your pens down. That's all the quizzing for 2013 my friends.
Player 5 was, as most of you now know, Iwan Roberts. I have to say I am delighted that every single one of you who already had the link by this week, and therefore knew the initials were either IR or RI, ALL went for Ian Rush on day 1! My devious plan foiled you all yet again....
So, no maximum points this week, but well done to Downy, Maccy and Lennie who got it on Tuesday for the next best thing.... 4 points.
Due to Archie having some problems with his house move, and not having internet connection (although his dedication to the quiz which saw him go to the library yesterday to get online and have a go is commendable!), this means Maccy now has a nice little lead at the top of the table:
1. Hatter in Macc 23 2= Archie 18 BBLW 18 4= Down Under 14 Market Harborough 14 6. Gazza 9 7. Sir Roger 8 8. Captain Beefheart 4 9. County Benno 3
But, as we all know, the bonus round (which is some Christmas presents) and the tie-break question, could make all the difference....

Ok then, to recap, the 5 players in my team were:
Robert Green (RG) Nemanja Vidic (NV) Muzzy Izzet (MI) Ashley Young (AY) Iwan Roberts (IR)
When re-arranged, I told you the initials would spell out something associated with Christmas. And it was...
Virgin Mary!
So, let's start dishing out some Christmas presents shall we, in reverse order?

Gazza, you've got 7 swans a swimming matey. Market Harborough, for you my friend, I've got 8 maids a milking. Downy, 9 ladies dancing (knew you'd like that one)
And so, to the top 3...

In third place as far as the Christmas presents are concerned, is...
.... Archie, with 10 (Alan) Lords a Leaping!

In second....
... Lennie, with 11 Pipers Piping.
Which means I have 12 Drummers drumming for Maccy, giving him the most presents and making him our overall winner by some margin. For the record, not that it matters, the attendance at Grimsby v Kidderminster last night was apparently 3,086 so the winner of the tie-break was Gazza who was only 211 away. I've put how far everyone was from the attendance in brackets after their final score:
1. Hatter in Macc 35 (+435) 2. BBLW 29 (-322) 3. Archie 28 (-332) 4. Down Under 23 (+/-3,086) 5. Market Harborough 22 (+313) 6. Gazza 16 (+211) 7. Sir Roger 8 (+/-3,086) 8. Captain Beefheart 4 (+/-3,086) 9. County Benno 3 (+/-3,086)
Well done Maccy! He now goes into 2014 as the reigning quiz champ. It only remains for me to thank everyone for taking part in the quizzes this year, and to wish you all a Merry Christmas. See you in Quizland in a couple of weeks for Quiz 60, which will start on Monday 6th January.
Have a good one folks!

Well done, Maccy!
I can't say I'm pleased with 6th because technically, it's last. As Rog came in halfway through, and Beefy & Benno seemed to have stopped playing almost as soon as they got some points on the board!
Seriously though, cheers for all the brilliant quizzes, Sandy. I'm looking forward to the first one of 2014!

A Macc-nificent win to end a brilliant quizzing year. Well done my Road-Tripping mate. I feel a bit of a fraud coming second as Archie had internet connection issues this week, a valiant effort my friend. I do hope that a few more of our 42 members take part in 2014. Thanks for the amusement and entertainment, Sandy. What a man !

Thanks, guys - and especially, of course, to Sandy for a great series of quizzes throughout 2013.
Mrs Macc is seriously peeved about the noise that there'll be around our place this Christmas with all those bl**dy drummers, mind...!
