After enjoying our five-week early-season break, Sandy and Maccy are back!
Nice to have marked the occasion with that late, late winner, too. Happy reading...

Good afternoon everyone.
It’s a long time since Maccy and I last addressed the masses, primarily because (like all big players) we were sidelined for the recent FA Cup run! Never ones to rest on our laurels, however, we have trained hard (Maccy doing official match tweeting and reports, and me preparing quizzes for County Heaven), and our typing skills are ready for first-team action.
So, aside from County’s performances, what has been keeping Heaveners occupied of late? Well, speaking of my quizzes, the ‘picture round’ has just reached a tense finale, with Archie managing to draw level on points with Maccy at the last minute. Also, due to overwhelming demand, October saw the return of both the poker tournament and our infamous European Football Competition. After the success of “The Italian Job” and “No Spain, No Gain”, it was the Bundesliga’s turn in “Last German Standing”!
Elsewhere, ‘C.H.A.O.S. Too’ recently concluded, and our thanks go to Lennie for organising another fine A-Z of sporting anecdotes. Meanwhile, Fudgie (when he’s not trying to make a poker hand out of just 4 cards) has been busy grilling some of our members with his ‘Big Interviews’. If you want to find out more about Gazza, myself, or the finest Norwegian export since Röyksopp (Jarkko), get yourself over to CHHQ pronto!
Do you fancy letting Fudgie probe you next, Maccy?

I’ll get back to you on that, Sandy. Tell me now, was Jarkko Probed while driving in his Fjord?!
In spite of our brief writing sabbatical, we find ourselves, rather spookily, carrying on with today’s notes where we left off with our most recent ones for the Gloucester issue - immediately following a visit to Harrogate!
It was even the same scoreline, second time around, too. Pretty much as we might have hoped... except that, on this occasion, the Harrogatians won.
As well as enjoying the excitement of County’s Cup adventures, we have been pleased to see better results from their October League matches than they gained in all three of the corresponding fixtures last term - winning here against Gloucester, as well as at Leamington, and, despite losing again at Oxford, only conceding half as many goals in the process!
Hopefully, the Hatters can also go one better against today’s visitors from Brackley. The Saints left SK3 with all three points just under a year ago - although that, of course, is a long time in football.
And five years most certainly is; back then, we were rubbing shoulders with Brackley’s nick-namesakes from Southampton, who nowadays look impressively comfortable just a place away from leading the Prem.
Still one step short of Heaven, though...!
Enjoy the game.
