Hmmm, not an 'L' of a good week for me this time.
Longview - an excellent indie rock band (introduced to me by one sandbachhatter - cheers!). Check them out - you won't be disappointed Lush - one of the original shoegazers of the late 80's early 90s Llama Farmers - on the pop side of grunge (if such a place exists). Terrible name, ok listen The Longpigs - The Sun is Often Out was one of my favourite albums of the 90s. Better than Radiohead and should have been as big Looper - more indie pop, this time from former Belle and Sebastian bassist, Stuart David The La's - never really produced enough: one studio album and four singles, but produced one of the singles of the late 80s / early 90s with 'There She Goes'. As a result, it has been hopelessly overplayed and, sadly, is all they are really known for
And so, with not a great deal of enthusiasm, my vote this week goes to The Lemonheads. Fairly light-weight sounding guitar pop, but there was a girl I fancied at school who loved them and was in love with Evan Dando. Consequently they became my favourite band for a while. (See my post in Week A, Another Sunny Day, to find out how this story ends...)

once saw lush with loop, for a couple of l's. not sure there was too much to get excited about other than miki berenyi's exotic looks.
low aren't a bad shout macca. i liked 'the curtain hit the cast' at the time, and their christmas ep, and of those 'in the fishtank' collaborations - i think theirs might have been with springheel jack. i once had a ticket to go and see them in leeds parish church in the city centre. i'm sure it would have been lovely. i bought a ticket for me and one for my girlfriend and it was the day after the first time county played at cheltenham, when palmer got sent off but we still won 2-0. anyway, when i was getting ready to go to the gig, i noticed that the tickets were actually for the saturday evening, not the sunday. 'cos of course it's not like they might be doing anything else in a working church on a sunday... still county won. never did see low.
there's a fairly decent loney dear album. that is all.
i'm also going to go for the lemonheads. not really that interesting now, but 'shame about ray' was one of my soundtracks to 1993 when i lived in oxford. great summer in particular, and several of us liked that album. also quite liked 'lick' and 'lovey', but '...ray' was just a sunshiny album. they were crap at reading that year though.

Led Zep would be my vote should this need a decider, but it looks like it will be pretty nailed on from here.
The Song Remains The Same - live from Madison Square Garden, 1976. I urge anyone into Zep who hasn't heard it to do so, in particular 'Dazed and Confused' with Jimmy's 3-day long guitar solo in the middle, at one point he plays with a violin bow, simply stunning.

Changing my vote. Watched the Tom Cruise movie 'Oblivion' again this afternoon and there's a scene in it where his character sneaks off on post-apocalyptic Earth to his secret lakeside retreat and plays 'Ramble on' by Led Zep from his old vinyl collection, brilliant:
Led Zep for me too.

Fair enough. Although time's up so, unless anyone has any objections, I won't do a final tally as Led Zeppelin have clearly won?
