Loved Organisation, which soundtracked my life working in Ibiza one summer early in the 1980s. A good many acts at the time tended rather lazily to throw in an odd filler album track that was a cover of a '60s or '70s standard, and most were pretty dreadful - although the rendition of Chris Montez's The More I See You bucked the trend by managing to sound more like an OMD song, and, as part of that body of work, was a seamlessly good listen.

I've been quite pleasantly surprised with the new Stones album 'Hackney Diamonds', which I've been listening to on Deezer.
After hearing the single 'Angry' as part of the EA FC24 soundtrack, I thought I'd give the song a listen and ended up playing the whole album a couple of times.
If you're even remotely into the Stones, you will probably like it, so for those people at least it's definitely worth a listen.

Last week my son was at an ice hockey training camp, which gave me a chance to visit the record shops. Quite pleased with my haul...

It certainly is, gazz. It's for my daughter for Christmas. She's a JCC fan and collects vinyl. It's from 1981, so she'll love that as well.

I've still got my copy of Gimmix. From a time when vinyl was morphing into all manner of weird shapes, that one's the most wonderful!

After another listen to 'Hackney Diamonds' on Deezer, I've decided to go for it and buy the 180g Diamond clear vinyl edition with gatefold sleeve.
I had a £5 off voucher at Norman Records, so that helped take the sting out of it!
I've also managed to secure a near mint copy of Bowie's 1987 'Never Let Me Down' album on blue vinyl from a seller in Australia, as it was only released on blue vinyl in Australia and New Zealand, so I'm pretty chuffed about that one!
I'll post photos as and when!

I didn't know they had released this one. I've a fiver off ticket for Normans so may get it myself.
This is my all time OMD favourite:
I have that one myself, Ceef, it's probably their most well-known. I have: Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - vinyl Architecture & Morality - Vinyl Dazzle Ships - vinyl Junk Culture - vinyl (with the free one-sided 7" single) Crush - vinyl Pacific Age - vinyl (Going all 'Alan Partridge' now) The Best Of Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - CD Bauhaus Staircase - Red vinyl. For some reason I didn't buy Organisation, or Sugar Tax, so maybe I'll get around to adding those and the subsequent later albums at some point. Ordered my Bauhaus S. copy.

I can't see this one gathering any moss... Last but not least, an action photo! It's an excellent album and the clear vinyl gives it a little bit more panache!

Here's another addition to my collection. The first image is the one I already had, which was affected by what is called 'tea-staining', regarding which I've read various explanations of, but nothing definitive. The most common I've seen is that it's oxidisation where air has got inbetween the picture and the vinyl, which can happen at any time in varying degrees during the disc's life. I have had this copy of 'Yesterday's Men' by Madness for some time now, but as you can see it's been hit with that very problem and although this is as bad as it got, it still ruins the look of the disc. Because of this, I have always had a better copy on my 'to do' list and I finally found one, in Vancouver of all places! Although there are one or two scratches that don't affect playback, it's still a far better copy. You're not supposed to play them really, so if I do have to test them, I just swap out my existing, better quality headshell and cartridge with the original combo that came with the turntable. The picture disc was issued in a clear plastic gatefold cover with a bonus single. To say that I'm pleased to have found this one is an understatement!

To further demonstrate the 'tea staining' issue, here's a typical copy of the 'Loving The Alien' shaped picture disc by Bowie that's commonly found for sale on various sites. YUK! Now here's my copy that has also been hit by the issue, but to nowhere near the extent of the one above... I have other shaped picture discs that are really hard to find without this issue, where mine have not been affected at all, so I think it's probably just down to bad luck and poor manufacturing processes. Storage could also be a factor, who knows. Anyway, that's enough nerdiness from me, I'm sailing dangerously close to giving the impression that I wear home-knitted tank tops and still live with my folks!
