Sad news that Angelo Badalamenti has passed away aged 85. I imagine many of us grew up with Twin Peaks as one of the soundtracks of our youth.

The Delgados were, as anticipated, magnificent.
An amazing set, and so much love in the room. We counted 6 grown men crying during Come Undone!
There was also a huge amount of respect. I've never been to a gig where there is no chatting in the crowd in between songs.
And how about this for an encore: Monica Webster Coming in from the cold No danger Thirteen gliding principles
I even managed to get Great Eastern on vinyl and my daughter got a set list. We then got both signed by the band and were chatting to Emma and Alan afterwards. Total fan boy embarrassment for my daughter, obviously.
Think it might be my gig of the year already.

Just.....WOW! I've been reading about a possible remastering of Joe Massot & Joe Dunton's classic 'Dance Craze' movie for years now, but pretty much gave up on it. There were special 35mm screenings of the movie presented by Joe Dunton around ten years ago. I hoped it would spark some real interest in getting this project done, but it never happened, until now! Internet surfing being what it is, I just stumbled on this news and have now pre-ordered both the Blu-ray and the 3CD deluxe edition of the album, which contains songs and alternate versions in the movie that never appeared on the original 14-track album - all 27 songs from the movie, in fact! "The film has long been unavailable, beyond YouTube, due to copyright disputes.
Dance Craze has now been newly restored by the BFI from original film materials, and will be made available on Blu-ray and DVD for the very first time ever on March 27. The release will feature a brand new Dolby Atmos sound mix supervised by Jerry Dammers and Dermot James (Chrysalis Records).
There will also be an accompanying Deluxe Edition of the Dance Craze soundtrack as a three record (or three CDs) box set. For the first time ever, these releases will include all 27 songs from the film, as well as the original 14-track compilation from 1981." It's good to know that Jerry was involved in the project. To say I'm absolutely buzzing is a massive understatement! www.loudersound.com/news/dance-craze-the-classic-1981-2-tone-documentary-featuring-the-specials-madness-the-selecter-and-more-is-being-released-on-dvd-for-the-first-time-ever

Deluxe Edition pre-ordered at Macc Towers! Great news that the full soundtrack is available at last, too.

Longshot, I know, but does anyone here do their own CD labels? The reason I'm asking is that I've created a custom CD label that I need printing off as I don't have a printer myself, plus I believe it's a pain in the backside lining it up on the label.
I made the label, plus a custom CD cover for a live Specials performance that was on 6 music over ten years ago now that I wanted to burn to a custom CD, but never got around to sorting it.
With Terry passing away in December last year, it's made me want to finally get it done.
It's just a shot in the dark really, but any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Originally only released as a 12" single if I remember correctly? B-Side 'The Beach'?

Still got my copy as well - bought on the day of release at Red Rhino in York. That die-cut sleeve cost Factory Records so much to manufacture that they lost money on every sale of the original 12-inch!

I've recently got myself back into vinyl and purchased a new Turntable, Amp and Speaker set-up from Richer Sounds last week, so I've been busy bolstering my vinyl collection. Here are a couple of classics I've just taken delivery of today... These are the 40th Anniversary editions. Both albums are split into 45rpm 180g double vinyl, and were half-speed mastered at Abbey Road - they sound fantastic! 'More Specials' even comes with a 40g edition of the free single that came with the 1980 original, featuring Roddy Radiation & The Specials - 'Braggin' and tryin' not to lie' on one side, and Neville in Judge Roughneck clobber performing 'Rude boys outa jail (Version)' on the other. It doesn't come with the poster, though, which is a little disappointing, given that the upcoming 'Dance Craze' special edition does for both the vinyl and CD releases. That's a minor issue, however, as these really do sound better than the original releases.

Touchdown for the 'Dance Craze' deluxe edition and boy was it worth the wait! I bought both the CD & Vinyl set (what can I say, I'm a completist!) and I can't wait for the Blu-ray release next weekend - I tip my hat to whoever was involved in finally getting this to happen.
I believe one of the main stumbling blocks with the movie was copyright. Most of these bands ended up moving onto other labels, so if that was part of the problem then it's understandable.
Cinematographer Joe Dunton owns an original 70mm print of the movie and has been wanting to get it done for many years now, so I'm pretty sure he would have been heavily involved.
b*ll*cks to Christmas, this is way better than that!

“What Chat GPT is, in this instance, is replication as travesty… Songs arise out of suffering, by which I mean they are predicated upon the complex, internal human struggle of creation and, well, as far as I know, algorithms don’t feel. Data doesn’t suffer.” Nick Cave’s reaction to a song created ‘in the style of Nick Cave’ by Chat GPT.
