Simply put, Lennie, I backed this horse at 20/1 a couple of months ago for a race next May. For the sake of argument, £20 win will return me £400 profit. It's now down to 8/1 and if I accepted a bet of £30 at even 10/1 my liability next May would be £300 if it wins so that's a profit of £100. If it loses I am £10 better off being the difference between my original stake and the stake that I accepted. In a nutshell, if I do nothing I'll be £400 up if it wins or £20 down if it loses. If I take a balancing bet I'll be £100 up if it wins or £10 up if it loses. Even the £10 would represent 50% return on my money in 10 months which is better than most financial markets.

So then, you fancy putting a fiver on a 10-team accumulator?,
A punter chose the following 10 teams yesterday to win:-
Middlesbrough
Crewe
Bristol City
Sheffield United
Luton
Inverness
Grimsby
Monchengladbach
Dallas
St. Albans
they did and won him a cool £75,155 for his troubles.
Dallas?, St. Albans? & Monchengladbach?,
he deserved to win!

Tsk - could have done with Monchengladbach doing the business, for 'Last German Standing' purposes, a fortnight ago!

I've got $5 on draws for Spurs and United and wins for Everton and Villa.
$350 profit if they all come in...

Three draws, Newcastle, Hull and Villa. Pays $200 for $5 stake.
Fingers crossed.

Best of luck, Downy.
(Would not do absolute wonders for my prospects in the Prediction League, mind...!)

Luckier with horses. Picked the winner in the Melbourne Cup ($74 profit). Mrs picked third each way ($92 profit). Lost $50 on my other choices but still $112 up overall.
Sadly the favourite, Admire Rakti, died after the race.

I had $5 on an 8 game accumulator to win $100.
Leicester win. Correct. Tottenham win. Wrong. Millwall win. Wrong. Liverpool win. Wrong. Swansea win. Wrong. Huddersfield win. Wrong. Man City win. Pending. Chelsea win. Pending.
Hope I'm wrong with the last two.
I think I'll try a different sport.
