This week sees the World Championships Division 1B taking place in Zagreb, Croatia with Britain hopeful of a medal despite being predicted to finish 4th from 6 on World Rankings...enough to survive the drop into the one relegation zone but not good enough to challenge for Gold and the one promotion spot...
We are now officially over half way through the fixtures and Britain have a near perfect record going into Friday and Saturday's games...
On Sunday, GB opened the tournament with a 4-1 win over hosts Croatia and the following day had to work much harder against Estonia as the game was taken to overtime with the scores level at 3-3, GB did win the game in OT but had to settle for 2 points to Estonia's 1 rather than all 3 points which you get for a regulation win.
Tuesday was a day off as the GB boys recharged after an exhausting overtime game and on Wednesday bounced back with aplomb as they completely dismantled the team considered almost guaranteed medalists, Lithuania, in an unbelievably one sided game as Britain came out 8-0 winners.
Tomorrow is another day off for the Lions before Friday's game against newly promoted side, Romania, who also currently fill 6th place and the relegation zone and then on Saturday they close out the Championships with a game against recently relegated side, a tournament leaders and favourites, Ukraine.
