Shame that, good effort keeping it to such a narrow margin.

Impressive 4-3 win over the Netherlands, GB went 1-0 up within a minute, then less than a minute later were 2-0 up, the Dutch pulled one back with 10 minutes gone.
GB scored again in the 2nd to go 3-1 up before the Dutch pulled another back. In the 3rd GB got another goal to make it 4-2, Netherlands pulled one back with 15 to play but GB survived a late onslaught to get a win!
Whilst promotion is impossible the race for the Bronze medal is well and truly on!

Britain play Poland in the last game, Poland are top and need 1 point to go up to Division 1A.
Croatia are in 3rd with 8 points, they play Lithuania who are in 2nd with a chance to go up, they would need to beat Croatia and hope for an 8 goal swing between them and Poland.
So Britain and Lithuania need to do each other favours, if Britain can win and Croatia lose we're 3rd.
Romania play Netherlands in the last game, winner stays up.

That's a shame, and I think the trend will continue in all sports. People are becoming less and less motivated to go and pay to watch live sports, I hope I'm wrong, but I can only see this problem increasing.

Sadly you're right mate.
Manchester Phoenix, a team second in my heart only to the Canucks suffered a similar fate.
They were wildly successful as Manchester Storm from 1995 to 2002 regularly getting crowds over 10,000, the highest ever attendance was 17,245 whereas the English record is 17,551 which was for an NHL regular season game in London. Sadly in 2002 there were dodgy things going on at board level and the team folded.
In 2003 Manchester Phoenix were founded by the fans of Storm and took part in the Elite League in 2003/04 but playing at the MEN Arena was no longer feasible so they suspended operations for the 2004/05 season and the 2005/06 season whilst they built a new arena in Altrincham, due to being out of town and much decreased attendances they had to take voluntary resignation to the English Premier League which is technically a top tier but is considered far worse than the British Elite League.
They now rarely break crowds of 2,000 despite having 2 league titles and 1 playoff title to their credit since resigning, it just shows how quickly it can all change from being super successful in front of 10,000 to playing in a sub-par league in front of less than 2,000.

Not that this story has any real consequence, just thought it was an interesting one and on the subject of teams having to take the drop to survive.

It's a story worth telling, mate. Darlington suffered a broadly similar fate after moving to that white elephant of a stadium.

Croatia beat Lithuania 3-2. Sadly GB don't get a medal but they played their hearts out. Bad luck boys, better luck next year!

Terrible news as it sounds like the Canucks have dropped a huge b*ll*ck and are to announce Torts' sacking later.....it is only rumours but there seems to be a lot of substance to them.
Very disappointed if true but with a new President of Hockey in the club it's understandable if he wants his own guys in!

Pfft, it would seem that there can be no legislating for boardroom stupidity in Ice Hockey as well as Football. Idiots in my very limited view.
