Here goes...no done this before so hopefully I'm along the right lines (otherwise ignore it...)
1. For great memories I will go with Blondie (rekindled by the gutsy Glastonbury performance; okay not as good as when she was younger but she has guts to get up and deliver a brilliant performance)... too many too mention but Atomic, Picture this hit the buttons..
2. Bowie, one of a kind and was always played to death at the Ranch Bar (next to FuFu's) on Dale Street many moons ago. Heroes, China Girl, Starman, Rebel Rebel, Young American, Suffragette City
3. Boston - Amanda, More than a feeling, Dont Look Back, Rock & Roll band, A man i'll never be( great riff)
4. Beautiful South , Rotterdam (had a 'ddg' girlfriend from there so its poignant), Manchester, Dont marry her
5. Kate Bush, running up the hill, cloudbusting. Would have loved to see her live.
Reserves: Belltower, Chuck Berry, BTO, Bad Company, Marc Bolan, Black Sabbath

5. Kate Bush, running up the hill, cloudbusting. Would have loved to see her live. well you can. she's playing live at the moment, although they might all be in london... i would add the 'hounds of love' single - a brilliantly unconventional hit. can't believe i missed big star. forming just as the beatles were finishing, and taking some of the fizz and sparkle of the byrds, allying it to blue-eyed soul and gorgeous harmonies. they made three great albums, the pick for me being their first, 'no. 1 record'. and having plumped for bowie -who i'm sticking with- i've been watching/listening to some beatles rehearsals. feels crazy that they've only got one vote so far - whether it's sunshine pop ('ticket to ride'), the prettiest song you'll ever hear ('blackbird'), the coda to 'hey jude' that we still sing at edgeley, or the myriad little touches, such as using a little blast of 'les marseillais' to kick off 'all you need is love'; there are so many demonstrations of songwriting -and performing- genius that surpass virtually any other artist ever...

I'm going to throw Bright Eyes in there if I may.....no doubt I'll end up voting on Bowie or The Beatles though (both of which I love by the way )

I'm Wide Awake It's Morning and The Peoples Key are a good place to start - never seen them live but if they tour again I'd pay whatever they wanted to see them. Cracking band and Conor Oberst always seems on the edge of his vocal ability - lovely stuff.

It's looking like Bowie unless there are some dramatic ch-ch-ch-ch-changes in the voting, but it will only take a couple of Kooks to see to that!

Good (Alan) Lord - quite a list!
Although Belinda Carlisle, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Idol, Billy Joel, Beluois Some and Barry Manilow are all void as they'd be considered in weeks C, S, I, J, S (again) and M respectively!
Nevertheless, a good shout in the Beautiful South. The wife and I reminisced whilst listing to Carry On Up The Charts recently - a great 'best of' and it'd been years since I'd listened to it!
