I'll start. Hot on the heels of the sleek Galaxy S5, Samsung are now trying a slightly different approach with the 'Galaxy Alpha': .... along the lines of the iPhone. No replaceable battery, and no SD card for extended storage! Although it comes with 32GB storage as standard, not allowing users to expand this via an SD slot is a cardinal sin in my book www.samsung.com/uk/discover/mobile/meet-the-galaxy-alpha/Th above are two reasons I moved away from iPhones, I hope this isn't the shape of things to come with all of their smartphones.

My Sony Xperia has a fixed battery which is struggling to last a day now it's 20 months old. The in-built 25 gb is enough for me but maybe not for others.
Android seems to conflict with my wi-fi on a regular basis which is a pain in the arse.
After all that in 4 months when I upgrade I'll be looking at the Sony again.
Help me!

I think so. I never had a problem until I updated the software. The extras are great but it had never crashed before. If I turn my wi-fi off it comes back.

My iPhone 4s is a brilliant phone, it's fast, it's relatively problem free I have no complaints EXCEPT the god damn battery, I have to have the brightness right down so I can barely see it if I'm outside just to get a full working day out of it, it's utterly hopeless in terms of the battery. If iPhones had a removable battery I would have no hesitation in getting a new one at all!

Have you updated the router firmware? That might help. Is it a wireless N or Wireless G router? I had all kinds of problems with my phones on 'G'. So I got Sky to look into it and they upgraded me to an 'N' router and I've never had a problem since.

My Sony Xperia has a fixed battery which is struggling to last a day now it's 20 months old. The in-built 25 gb is enough for me but maybe not for others. The main problem with the memory usage on the S range of phones is the incredible amount of fixed 'bloatware' that comes pre-installed on them, they take up a huge amount of the 16GB phone memory on my S4 and can only be removed by 'rooting' the device, which invalidates any existing warranties or cover on the phone. So unless you've got more money than sense, it's not advisable. SD card slots on these things are a must, especially if you like your music and want to cram a shed load onto it.

Quick word of advice to anyone with a Galaxy phone and breaks their screen, do not get it repaired by anyone other than a Samsung approved repair centre, because the glass fascia and screen are sealed together as a single unit. I was daft enough to get a glass fascia replacement from a small village repair shop which was just glued on, and the problems I've had with it are too numerous to mention. Needless to say I took it back three times, and within a week of the final repair the crappy quality glass had developed bubbles of glue and condensation underneath and then finally cracked again: I have since negotiated with my network provider to start a brand new contract, and luckily they allowed me to end my existing contract 10 months early by trading in my S4. So I plumped for a shiny new Galaxy S5! Chuffed is not the word, but I had to go through a sh*t load of pain to get to this point. I hope the useless sh*te who f**ked my S4 up goes out of business!

It has almost 2GB of device memory, half of which is taken up by apps, the rest is spare. It also has 25.8GB of internal storage, 7GB is used up by my music and there's still over 16.5GB left.

Then you have a decent Router at least. You need to access the Router home page, where you can change settings, port forwarding etc. You should also see an option to update the Router firmware. What make is the Router?

It may, or may not make any difference, but it might be worth a try: support.netcommwireless.com/product/adsl/nb6plus4wn

I haven't had a problem since my last rant on here but if it happens again I know what to try.
