I've been searching for England articles this morning and found this on an excellent 'England Memories' site: englandmemories.com/2018/03/21/englands-italia-90-robsons-redemption/What a Summer that was. One memory I have of that year was going to Majorca after the World Cup and seeing England shirts everywhere and we were getting compliments from other foreign tourists on a great World Cup for "Gazza". One night, though, I was asked by a passing German when he saw me wearing my Italia '90 shirt: "Englander, yah?", to which I replied with a simple 'thumbs-up' - he then responded with a 'fisticuffs' gesture: "Hooligan, yah?" I just laughed it off and carried on walking, wondering if we'll ever shrug that particular Monkey off our backs. I'd love to go back to that Summer again, though, because it wasn't just the national team that was better back then - so was the world in general.
