As we look to qualify for Euro 2016 we may as well have it all on one thread! First bit of news. England arrange a friendly with Scotland at Celtic Park for November. A good way to cause maximum damage and trouble.......well thought out FA. Just a thought how will we pay for the tickets?

Trying 'desperately' to summon up some motivation to watch 90 mins of boring footie tonight. (assuming it's on the BBC). I have to say that County is much more exciting and better value...

Guess I'm the sole guy flying the cross of St George in the vein hope that 'this time will be different'... no fudge, but mine's only at half-mast after the last set of disappointments. i will definitely watch the highlights. i definitely want us to win, because i want to be able to get myself vaguely worked up about a tournament in two years' time...but i don't think i can bring myself to do anything more than dip in and out of the live broadcast, particularly with all the adverts and plant pots like andy townsend stating the f***ing obvious as 'expert analysis'.

Decent assessment that.

We have to hope that the new look to the team is the way forward. We have all moaned about too many old guard players so we have to support what is put in front of us.
Only have to finish 3rd to qualify this time so there is a little bit of time to play with and get the balance right.
Glass half full, please don't knock it over yet.

First bit of news. England arrange a friendly with Scotland at Celtic Park for November. Just a thought how will we pay for the tickets? we'll have an exchange rate of roughly 150 jockos to the pound by that point. they'll have already gone to the IMF and will be experiencing a weimar republic-like hyper inflation, with a rucksack of cash just about covering a bottle of buckfast.

Lol think you need to copyright ' jockos' , you could make a stash. That buck fast looks vile stuff....

Delph should have booked for the first tackle and sent off for the second.
Sterling is a marked man, they have put a WWF cast-off on to man mark him.

Great result! Against one of the consistent performers in football as well.
Very impressed with England's resilience and counter attacking. Maybe I'm the only one but I thought the boys did excellent tonight.

Of course they did and with the second youngest side we've ever put out in a competitive match. Also, several realistic contenders unavailable through injury - Lallana, Barkley, Walcott, Shaw, Sturridge, Johnson, Walker, Rodriguez, Rose, Colback, Smalling, Flanagan just for starters. Earlier, the U19s drew in Germany so not a bad day.

Rode their a luck a couple of times but Hart and Cahill held it together.
Switzerland are no push overs, so a good result away from home. 10 or so matches to put a realistic squad together.

Given the new format of the Euros with the top 2 qualifying automatically, the best 3rd placed team qualifying automatically and the remaining teams going into a playoff. With our remaining fixtures being Slovenia home and away, Switzerland home, San Marino home and away, Lithuania home and away and Estonia home and away.
You'd have to say we will beat San Marino we just need to try and notch up a big score, we'll almost certainly get the double of Estonia and Lithuania as well barring any massive upsets. Slovenia at home should be a win, away could be a bit more of a banana skin but you'd still have to be pretty confident, Switzerland were the big stumbling block but the win away from home as given us one foot in the finals already!

a great marker for the group - on paper it was by far the toughest fixture. i only watched the highlights but was impressed by the liverpool-style counters for the two goals. couple of decent saves by hart, and one great bit of defending from cahill. they could easily have scored so it could have been different, but we missed other chances too and whatever your expectations, it's a great start. can't say i'm completely re-enthused or anything, but that was always going to take some time...
