Here we go...
3rd: gazza - Uruguay's loss is football's gain. An excellent line that in any other competition would have won. I decided to stick with the pundit theme when judging, but this was such a good analysis of the Suarez story I felt it deserved an honour.
2nd: countyfan - Listening to Andy Townsend drives me insane. Agreed.
1st: downunderhatter - They're all as bad as each other, riding the gravy train. An excellent line.
This World Cup has hit a new low in commentary and punditry, in my opinion. The Beeb and ITV have chased ex-pro's based on their name and not on their ability to articulate a worthwhile opinion. Some are articulate well but don't seem to say anything (like Thierry Henry), others seem to have something to say, but can't communicate it (like Robbie Savage). Meanwhile, excellent broadcasters like Tim Vickery who is sometimes on 5 Live, are nowhere to be heard.
Apologies, this has turned into a lament for the role of the professional broadcaster.
Where was I? Oh yes, well played Downy and cheers Len.

Cheers for the podium, Eps, and I think you've called the winner correctly there, mate! Congrats to my fellow podium sitters, particularly to Downy for a deserved win. Cheers to Lennie as always!

Fabulous stuff folks.
This World Cup keeps giving and given to "us professional poets".
Thanks for the judgement (and commentary) Eppy, good podiums for Gazza and CF. Well deserved win for Downey.
New one coming soon.
