I've temporarily disabled the snow plugin, as I have been experiencing some pretty irritating lag on here, so I just thought I'd see if it has affected/made a difference with or without it for anyone else? Any feedback would be appreciated, as we want to make this site as easy on the eye and as pleasurable to use as is possible. Is "lag" when your computer machine makes a weird sound?, if so, I had it but now as it has stopped snowing, it has also stopped the silly sound.

No it's OK now, Gazza. It was just prior to the snow being disabled that it made a "sound". The computer's fine now. I should have mentioned it the time I suppose.

It's just the browser generating the snowfall, it's the same sound you get when loading a website, but more profound because it's constantly loading and scrolling the 'flakes'. Lag can occur where your system can't process the information quick enough, the most common being not having enough RAM. Poor CPU performance can also be a factor. Lag on the internet can be due to a number of issues, but the most common is your connection is slow and the data streaming through is too much to process quickly enough. I'll use an image taken from an episode of the Simpsons to demonstrate. It's the episode where Mr Burns was being shown by a Doctor how he has 'Three Stooges Syndrome', where every disease he has can't get a grip of him because they're fighting against each other to get a hold of his body...... The little animals in that image are chunks of data, and the doorway is your internet connection speed, it's not fast or big enough to take it all, so there is a queue or 'lag'. I may have been talking crap here, but I know what I'm trying to say .

I forgot to add that the lag I was experiencing was not the snowfall, as it was still present after I disabled it, it was something else that appears to have rectified itself.
Computers, eh?!

Fantastic work, as has been said by many, in setting this up. Thanks again

New feature added, 'New thread description'. You can now add a description to your new threads to let visitors know whether or not to bother clicking on it! Seriously though, I thought it looked a handy little addition, so I erm.... added it.

Oh, and Big Fudge will be able to add on the posts from your time on the previous site - so you won't have to remain classified as a Nolan Boot Boy for any longer than is absolutely necessary!

Just a question really Gazza, I occasionally look at the desktop version Looking at the stats at the bottom it says there have been over 100 guests in the last 24 hours. Does the site track each persons ip or could it be the same visitor 100+ times?

Good question, Duds, but no they are not all individual visits. The site counter at the bottom is also a clickable link to the more in-depth stats. It won't be 100 unique guest visitors, it will include returning visitors. Have a look at the counter stats, it'll give you a better idea of the kind of traffic we're getting from day to day.
