My basic assessment, though obviously just my opinion.
Hand - Glad he's gone. Craney - Glad he's gone. Howard - VERY disappointed he's gone, easily one of our better players, strange. Platt - Not bothered. Payne - Never saw enough of him. Moke - Would have liked to see him get another go. Washburn - Never saw him. Charnock - Could do a job but not too bothered. Battersby - Seems a tad harsh but not a crippling loss.
Ormson - Glad he's staying, growing into a good keeper slowly but surely. Jacobs - Will be delighted if he stays, should be captain. Lees - Very happy. O'Halloran - Based on his last 10 or so games, very solid signing, possible captain material. Fagbola - Happy, despite a shaky season he's shown what he can do and he's still very young. Duxbury - Delighted, our best young player. Moses - Would have released, don't rate him. Milligan - Not a huge fan but probably contributes more than I give him credit for. Churchman - Not fussed. Lofthouse - Glad we've given him another chance, looks decent. Dennis - Very happy, found his feet over Christmas and looked a much better player. Todd - Don't know nearly enough to comment.

What we shouldn't forget is that: 1. Lordy has seen most of these over a period of time and will have a view of what they contribute off the pitch as well as on. 2. some of the decisions may be financial so if, say, Lordy wanted just one of Platt, Howard and Lofthouse, it's more than likely that Lofthouse was both the cheapest and the youngest/least tried. You'd have to think that there are players under consideration to take the place of the departed. All in all, it's quite pleasant to have the nucleus of a squad in place this early in the close season.

The sooner we now hear of retained players having accepted terms, the better - although, like others, and whatever reasons lie behind it, I feel disappointment over the release of Howard. He didn't, in my eyes, clock up a single poor performance all season, even on the team's darkest afternoons/evenings. I did wonder, however, whether his relegation to the bench for the final few matches might mean the writing was on the wall for him...

Generally happy with this. However, am disappointed that Howard, Payne and Moke have not been offered contracts. Howard and Moke are good wide midfielders in this division in my opinion. However, I don't know what happens on the training pitch etc.
Of the players offered contracts I'm a bit surprised about Moses and Fagbola. I would say that they have been kept as squad players rather than first teamers.
I think that Milligan may be offered a role as player/coach due to his experience especially with Jevons leaving.

Rumours from Telford fans are that we've signed Russell Benjamin whoever that is

Finally going to admit it, I would be a cr*p manager as I would have kept Moke and Howard, but got rid of Moses and Fagbola.
Really having problems understanding this retained list...
I desperately hope that we get some quality into the club or we are never going to get out if this league.
A sobering thought not meant to bring on a migraine or a severe bout of depression... Someone told me it took Cambridge 9 years to get back to the League ...

I'd have swapped Moses and Howard round and kept the latter ...is the star post! i think it'll be tougher replacing howard's nine goals and endless workrate (albeit not always to any great result) than tunji's sendings off and lack of other impact on the game.

i had a text from a mate earlier expressing his displeasure at the list. now i've seen it, it's not as bad as i feared. would personally have released moses, milligan and fagbola and kept howard. i wonder if iain will go back to chester now? it's not horrifying though.
not suggesting that 'off-pitch' behaviour/influence is completely unimportant, but surely a team training 4 hours or whatever a week reduces its likely impact in comparison to full time teams?

If his attitude is the problem it could possibly put others off signing or remaining with the club!

yeah; bad attitude is definitely a problem, even if we're only p/t. think that's fairly unlikely in -say- howard's case though, as he doesn't display any of the other hallmarks. always worked hard, never looked like he was sulking more than was reasonable when he wasn't playing.
attitude's important, and i don't want anyone with a poor one at the club. what i meant though is that unless someone has an absolutely outstandingly top-class attitude, it's unlikely to have too much of an impact at a club where they're only training a couple of nights a week.

@gavinbrowne77: AL remains in advanced negotiations with a midfielder and a striker - the latter is someone he's wanted for 12 months #stockportcounty

According to scfc twitter 3 players signed and to be announced in the next 24 hours....
Hope they are better than Howard and Mokie...

Apparently Jacobs won't sign. According the Swedish paper Sydsvenskan were looking to re-sign Cirak.....

not in their online presence, so hopefully you're joking absolutely sh*t news about jacobs. gavin browne tweeted that he wants to 'test himself at a higher level' which is fair enough to some degree, but he's stepped up a level to play at county...does he want to go full time? apparently milligan is undecided because he's had other interest. f*** knows from where. is he particularly wanted as a dog walker or a medical test subject?
