Half an hour in and one wicket down. Really should go to bed soon!

Important wicket, but as we saw already this series, Mitchell John-Thomas can put the bat on a bad ball or two. We've not batted yet either, and I seriously doubt we'll match their first innings score, so I'm still fearing the whitewash.

I think they'll knock 350+ and we'll stumble around 160-170.
Four perfect days of cricket weather still to come and we'll be 3-0 down.

I can't argue with that at all, Downy. We've struggled to post anything like a decent one day score so far, and I really can't see that changing. If we collapse again and go 3-0 down they should have their wages stopped, the cheeky bleeders are having a free holiday as it is!
It's do or die now, our openers need to get after their attack early on, we've got b*gger all to lose. I dunno, how can we go from being number two/number one in the world to this, or were we just not as good as the rankings suggest? South Africa showed us who was boss in that three match series 18 months ago, yet this time last year we were about to wrap up a series win in India. One factor I've neglected to consider of course is that maybe the Aussies are developing into a really good side again?
There's still no excusing the dross we've seen at the crease so far though, rejuvenated Aussies or not, it just hasn't been good enough.

Obviously we've been poor, but losing the toss 3 times in a row doesn't help! The Aussies are now full of confidence, while our players have had enough of being humiliated and seem to have one foot on the plane home. That first day of the series set the tone: If we'd finished them off they would have been staring down the barrel of another series like the one in the summer. If if if... It's very difficult to create any pressure now, and that's what shapes test cricket matches. Annoying as I love the Boxing Day test but probably won't bother this time.

I've realised that just one drawn test will lose me $15.
I've covered that by putting $5 on 3-0, 3-1 and 4-0.
So I've now got $30 on.
4-0 = $10 down. 3-1 = $6 down. 3-0 = $32 up. 3-2 = $24 up. 4-1 = $155 up. 5-0 = $240 up.
2-2, 2-1 and 2-0 will see me lose $30 but I'm willing to take that risk!

@ JLC: fair point regarding the toss that, mate. The cracks were beginning to show in the Summer for me though, and we seem to have gradually got worse. Trott going home gave the Aussies such a boost, and that for me was a defining moment, they smelled blood.
@ Downy: The threat of losing $30 is still more exciting than the cricket, at least that will keep you on the edge of your seat if nothing else will!

Oh, and I haven't got England to win 3-2, but if that happens I definitely won't care!
