nice herm. i think 'motorway to rothwell' is about as close sounding as you can get with leeds suburbs, or perhaps 'stormy wetherby'.
was it at the arena eps? still never been.

Ah, beat me to it, ars. Motorway to Rothwell was the one that came my mind.
It’s at the O2 academy (formerly town and country club) next Tuesday, so I’ll report back next week.
I La La Love Pixies, so can’t wait.
Their new album is out tomorrow and I’ve been really enjoying ‘It’s a Pixies Podcast’ on Spotify charting the making of the album. Really interesting insight into the process of making an album and the influence of the producer. Highly recommended.

The new songs are also very good. On Graveyard Hill (or souls that be On Garforth Hill?) and Catfish Kate are worth checking out and St Nazire was released today, so one for the journey to work tomorrow

nice!
haven't been there in donkeys. think i've only seen lemonheads and teenage fanclub there, both back in the mid nineties. i'm a bit funny about bands reforming after so much time has passed, and no kim deal still feels wrong (even though paz lenchantin is probably indie rock royalty and has played in, among others, papa m and silver jews who were among my faves), but there will be moments where they drop in a favourite, and you realise from the first couple of drumbeats that you're about to experience a 'wave of mutilation' or whatever, where it will hopefully be something wonderful.

I've seen Wonderstuff/Neds and First Aid Kit there in recent months, but I've not been more excited about a gig in a long, long time. The set lists from the first dates of this tour are amazing - going back to some real old school Pixies. I've warmed to Paz following the Pixies podcasts - and even forgiven her for Indie Cindy. I'll report back on the Music Thread...

Found this on twitter!
In The Oval Test, England became the first team in Test cricket to bowl the opposition out in both innings with none of the bowlers who took wickets in the 1st innings taking wickets in the 2nd innings.
Fantastic stat

i particularly like how the main set ends with 'hey' and the encore is 'gigantic'. that's f***ing cool.
(super furries too. also saw them at the t&c. this is sort of a note to self.)

Just had 5kws worth of solar panels installed on my roof.
There's an app that shows me how much power they're generating (and how much money I'm saving) throughout the day.
It's incredibly addictive.
