i think i can live with it! a trophy's a trophy. it could have been me unflatteringly naked perched atop a wild boar and i'd still have been happy to have it under my avatar! Now you know I couldn't just leave it at that!

The Club Shop when it was hid round the corner. To be more specific, having to queue on match day to get in due to overcrowding. The 'jobsworth' on the door allowing a maximum of 3 people at a time. Annoying and time consuming, but it helped create an impression of a 'buzz' about the place. Of course, the shop was only tiny and it was a disgrace that we'd been forced to sell our wares from there, but to have to queue and enter three at a time (back to the actress and the bishops line) was strangely good.
Balls?, maybe, but I know what I mean.

When I pack up after a day's teaching I gradually reduce my papers, files, etc from being spread out over more than one desk until there is only stuff on one desk, and then I out the last lot away. By the way, the French for OCD is TOC.

When I say French, I mean the French language, not Dawn French.

And not just the French language spoken in France, but I guess the Francophone world.

Francophone means French speaking, it's not an Irishman with a mobile.

Just like Anglophone is not a fisherman with a mobile.

Languages
I love learning new languages. Even just a few words is cool. In my few words group I have Polish, Lithuanian, Slovak, Urdu, Punjabi, Italian, Portuguese, Gaelic.
I am more confident and able when speaking Spanish, French and German to conversational level.

Cold callers/Telesales.
Even though I'm on the Do Not Call Register we still seem to get a lot of calls from telesales people.
I always felt quite rude when I hung up on them as they could be phoning for a good cause.
I then progressed onto the asking who they work for, what their name is and who their boss is tactic. Also adding that I was on the register guaranteed that they hung up on me.
My latest tactic to some fellow called "Mike" who was quite obviously in India, asking if I was in front of my computer as he was going to sort out an imaginary problem I was having, was to put him on "hold" with 85dB of the finest Sigur Ros I could find.
If this is what getting old is all about, bring it on!

Brilliant, Downy!
The old "your computer has a virus" scam is still going is it? A guy I worked with here fell for that believe it or not, well his missus did. Their laptop ended up in the repair shop, with hundreds of family photos lost forever.
Scumbags.
