my excuse is i was watching this black and white christmas staple. i won't mention the director or lead because it's too much of a giveaway, but a good man on the brink of jumping from a bridge right by the thames is given a vision (by a refugee from the top of a christmas tree) of exactly what the world would have been like had he not lived. for instance, that ridiculous statue of bubbles' mate might still have been there...
