Sutton-ly it's the weekend again! And we have ourselves a first-ever contest with 'The U's'.
Post all the usual malarkey here...

If travelling via the M6 add a bit of extra time. Too many stop starts and that blerdy 50 mega parking zone. Awful today.

Hoping for a reaction from the players tomorrow. It's looking like last chance saloon for some of them. Cross Jim and you are out and rightly so. 2-2 forecast.

Great to see Palmer back today - made all the difference. I thought Hinchcliffe was wasted - JG could have played in goal, Sutton were as sterile as we were! Minihan played well, Osborne had a better game. Cowan did fine but looked to be a little restricted after the horrible clattering he got early doors. Adam Hamill was lively but Leesley was poor (again). It looked like JG had read the riot act to Bell and Mulhearn but despite greater effort, they were mainly ineffective. A point is a point, I suppose.

Great to stop the rot, and in someways slightly disappointed to come away with only a point. But I travelled home a happy HarboroughHatter - having a railway station right next door to the ground does help!
We were so much better in the 2nd half than the first - more positivity, more attacking play. Defence looked pretty solid all game.
I worried for Cowan being caught out a few times, and Mulhearn got no service, he looked very frustrated and angry about it. Bell gave an improved performance and certainly worried their defence.
Thomas as usual this season was excellent, Minihan's strike in the 2nd half was sweet but it sailed over.
Sutton are quite a dirty side, and also gave away a couple of blatant handballs which the official's all missed, in fact the referee missed a few nasty challenges - was he really up to it - he was the 4th official in the first place, swapping at the last moment with the named referee.
As for the ground, in my opinion the worst in the National League in terms of build. All disjointed and shelters clamped to old terracing - with the curved banks on the home end - did it used to host speedway (like Odsal and The Shay used to be)?

It used to host athletics, mhh. The track around the pitch was there until the late 1970s/early '80s, I think.

Sutton United received the seats for the grandstand at Gander Green Lane from the remodelling of Stamford Bridge from Chelsea.

A much better match with Palmer and Walker back. Pity Thomas didnt convert to put us 1-0 up. We created more chances second half but couldn't put it away. We rode our luck as they had a number of shots which skyed over our crossbar. The replacement ref was appalling - for example giving a goal kick and ignoring the liners saying its a corner, and at least 2 handballs in the penalty area. We have to createout own luck but that was taking the p***. I spoke to Beautymans Dad before the match and ironically he said the team hadnt played badly in the last few matches but didnt have luck on their side. Ironically I know what he means.
I dont understand why first half we didnt bring Hammill into the game more. Second half, Thomas, Osborne and Minihan played better but all out shots were straight at the keeper apart from Minihans belter (volley?) which just screamed over the bar.
Good to see a clean sheet so settle the nerves ahead of Hartlepool and Dagenham and Redbridge.
