Not too disappointed by the loss of Stephenson tbh, he could be a bit hit and miss although if true it seems finding out this way is a bit shabby. As for Duxbury, yeah, whatever Scott, don't set your ambitions too high will you. Very pleased that we seem to have kept the squad largely intact and I'm fairly sure that JG will have a list of players that he and his team will have identified as adequate replacements. Was Mulhearn on a longer contract?

Mulhern signed a 2-year deal last summer and a fee was paid.

f*** off, Fylde! I'm seriously disappointed that Dux has gone there, he could and should have had better offers than those bunch of plastics. Good to hear that Palmer has committed to another season, though - I said I'd be happy if one of those two stayed.

well at least we'll have someone to boo other than billy binhead. it was getting boring.
not really arsed in this case about being all magnaminous and thanking him for the service. jim has been responsible for a lot of his development and he had more ties to the club than most of the fly-by-nights we've had, so i thought we might get a bit more playing time out of him. he thought otherwise, and f*** him very much.
thought we'd have kept stephenson. not dead bothered, but we hung around for 18 months when he was dogshit, so slightly surprised that we've not made more hay while the the sun of his recent form was (weakly) shining (i.e. don't worry, it wasn't like he was amazing, just an improvement on what he'd been before).

All laudable things to want for oneself, in which case why leave the Manager who's been responsible for your development just at the point when you'll be able to move on by playing at a higher level to go to Fylde? Not sure they have a reputation for developing players. Casting round for players who are out of contract and picking them up for nothing and offering wages way beyond what one might expect from a club with attendances averaging 1600 or so is more their style. Sorry Scott, I smell bullshit.

Agreed, Yorks.
Whatever the story is regarding his contract offer, he's still gone for the money and had no intention of staying.
Challinor and his staff aren't in the same league as Jim, Dave Conlon and Alan in terms of potential for development.
A move that, in my opinion, will only serve to benefit his present rather than his future.

But look how well moving for the money has worked for the likes of Danny Lloyd and Jason Oswell.
Oh, wait.

At least they went to league clubs initially! It seems like a lack of ambition on his part for me. If he had stayed with us he would have been part of a high profile season with more exposure. He could have had a release clause put in if a league club came for him.

He could have had a release clause put in if a league club came for him. True bit I hazard a guess that he wants to develop his game so he is better prepared to play in the football league as a regular starter. Whether this is a good move remains to be seen. I am sure money has played a part and anyone would be daft to turn a huge rise down.

I am sure money has played a part and anyone would be daft to turn a huge rise down I get where you're coming from, but we're talking about Fylde here, not Orient, Tranmere or other clubs of that ilk - Jim nailed it with 'sideways move'. If Dux really wanted to further his career he'd have stayed with Jim and waited for the right club - he's gone to those sh*tbags because they offered him more money. I'm willing to bet that if we'd have been in a position to offer him more than what Fylde were then he'd have stayed with us. I honestly believe that this move was all about the money. However, if he really does think that he will develop better as a player under Challinor than he would with Jim and his staff, then he's got rocks in his head.

I am sure money has played a part and anyone would be daft to turn a huge rise down. i completely get that, but football is a sphere in which i allow myself to be more tribal and less rational. i'd sort of have preferred it if he'd just left rather than writing that and s**king us all off with his fawning post in order to have his raise (fair enough) and our good wishes too (withheld).

My tuppence worth.. a) Its obvious that the statement from Dux has been well-penned and is almost certainly the product of his agent -I wonder how much influence his agent actually had in his move? b) I think Dux will have his work cut out deposing the present incumbent, Zaine Francis-Angol from left back.
