Starting this one rather earlier than usual - but, having seen the ticketing options, I thought it worth sharing them on here for any Heaveners who might be wishing to make the trip to Haig Avenue on Saturday... ***************************************************************************************************** VISITING SUPPORTERS
For the 2018/19 season Southport Football Club are operating cashless turnstiles in partnership with Kaizen Ticketing. Away fans will have two options to gain entry into the Merseyrail Community Stadium. 1. Quite obvious predictions this week as i'm sure you'll all agree...
Sam Minihan sleeps through his snooze and then rushes his pre match head shave and ends up cutting himself Jake Kirby screams like a little girl when a huge spider runs out of his shoe as he's leaving the house During the warm up Kallum Mantack drops one which is so bad that Sam Walker almost throws up! The 1st corner of the game comes in the 29th second of the 1st minute The woodwork get struck 7 times during the game County score a last gasp equaliser Full time is 2 - 2

I'm guessing flitting between a 4-2-3-1 and a 3-4-1-2 with:
Hinchliffe Cowan Palmer Keane Askew Turnbull Walker Minihan Warburton Stephenson Mulhern
Ormson, Smalley, Mantack, Dimaio, Bell
After two poor losses (Telford away and Alty at home), I'm sure, like York, Southport will be eager to get points on the board. However, it would be disappointing for us to lose a second game on the trot to a fellow contender - we do need to ensure that we can be beating these teams points-wise when the H&A ties have been played. A point at least would get us on the way to achieving that. A first clean sheet would be most welcome too!

Am I alone in objecting to being patted by some self important security ape in a high vis vest before entry? Particularly since said security ape couldn't tell me what he was actually looking for

Phil Staley on the co-commentary. He talks complete cobblers.
I remember one from years ago: "Brett Angell leapt like a giraffe at the back post."

BH we dont half make it hard for ourselves but grateful for the win and 3 points. For large parts of the match we didnt use the wings everything going up the right hand flank and then when we did start using the left in the second half things began to happen.
Wishing that our midfield will move up to fill the void behind the attackers - far too often we lost the ball up front and we didnt pick up a header or pass as we were too deep.
Having said that I missed the first 15 mins as the M6 was stop start stop start

Phil Staley on the co-commentary. He talks complete cobblers. fully agreed. but it's not just shite similes - he's just an old windbag who likes to talk about himself a lot. couldn't stand listening to him when he was on commentary, whereas i've never minded any of the players and really liked jah wobble as well. with staley, i always get the feeling that for someone who has been involved in the game for a long time, he can't say anything meaningful about it. it feels like being patronised by a stupid person.

Having had time to reflect on yesterdays win, these are my thoughts for what they're worth! Having watched JG teams for many years now, it seems to me that Jim has become more aggressive towards his players from the touchline as time has passed. It also seems that because JG criticises and more often than not, over-criticises his players they spend too much time trying to actually listen to what he says then to respond. This will undoubtedly effect the players concentration (some more than others). Also, the constant moaning does effect confidence. In difficult games like yesterday against Southport when the team was struggling against 10 men you could see that players were more fearful of making mistakes than concentrating on their game. Undoubtedly JG has good tactical acumen and experience at this level but I just feel that if he were to take the reigns off his players a little then they would enjoy playing more and subsequently performances and results would benefit. I have had numerous conversations with other SCFC supporters and most feel the same. People will always make comparisons between JG's style and the two relatively successful (albeit with greater financial resources) ex-Salford managers who also moaned and groaned, but I feel that JG can be far too pedantic and doesn't know when to let go. If we are to push for promotion this season then both the players and JG need to up their games, understand their limitations and improve. Rant over!

An interesting view and speaking as a fan of Gannon's there is someething in what you say. I can recall a couple of post match interviews last season when he's said that he's had to be instructing from the sidelines. That would suggest that either the players are ignoring training sessions, don't understand what's required or aren't good enough to put it into practice or that the plan is overcomplicated. It looked to me on Saturday that, rather like the second half at York, we had no response to a team working hard as a unit to close us down, get stuck in and give us no time on the ball. Whether that can be laid at the feet of the manager or not is a moot point right now. I'm happy to see how the team develops once the midweek games are out of the way and time can be devoted to coaching and training rather than playing
