Gutting but not surprising, fantastic run in for him, i thought he’d turn pro this summer but was hoping with us! I had him as next captain.

Pleased for him and for JG. Whether it was now or this time next year, he would surely be moving up so at least he was in contract and we got some money.

Huge one in the eye for those that ripped into him and Jim's belief in him, no doubt they're now conveniently forgetting that - just like those that slagged Jim off from pillar to post during his own playing days, that now call him a legend. To anyone still doubting Jim's ability to not only spot a player, but also to stick by him and make the club money when they move on - welcome to the genius of Jim Gannon 101, I hope the enlightenment was good for you! Best of luck, Jimmy - thanks for all your hard work!

The more of a reputation we get for improving players and getting them into the football league, the more better quality players will want to come. Throw in our fanbase and anyone who really wants it should come knocking on Jim’s door.

I agree that a reputation for developing young talent will be a useful factor in attracting ambitious and motivated players to sign for County. It might also persuade managers in the leagues above to allow good players to join County on loan.
Jimmy is obviously a good athlete (look at those arms!) and seems to have good technique when striking the ball judging by some of his goals. He's also big and mobile -- no wonder a league club is taking a punt on him.
May be the first of a few to leave this summer.

best of luck jimmy. shame we couldn't accommodate him in his best position more, because for me he would still sometimes totally disappear in games, but having played at least four different roles for us, no blame for that. their manager mentions his box to box qualities here, although their new signing is apparently james bell according to the article.

'James Bell'? Hasn't really got the same ring to it...

One for the future there - and a potential captain in years to come.
Duly added to the Squad List on our separate, locked thread.

Squad update now up on COWS: www.stockportcounty.com/first-team-squad-update/Main points: - O'Halloran and Smalley offered contracts; - 'Positive' contract discussions ongoing over Oswell; - Brazel and Winter not being retained; - Clarke and West not offered contacts, but invited to pre-season training; - Number of players targeted for recruitment; - Ambiguous statement over a future switch to full-time.
