A good honest grafter of a player - good luck to him - any chance they can make Stott's loan permanent now?

Smalley - what a genuine player, reaching the 100 appearances, playing through a fractured foot and always puting in his shift. A right footer often playing LCB, he really did a good job for us and to be part of the the best defence that season is a credit to him and those in and around him. For all the headers and blocks that never make highlights for defenders, I'm pleased he got that super jumping volley against Alfreton on video. Good luck to him.

So I wished Smalley all the best on Twitter and decided he's the 2nd best ginger I've seen play for county after the late great Kieron Durkin. So got me thinking could we name a best of ginger's for county? I can off the top off my head I can only think of Simon Travis but there must be more...

dean emerson has to be in there. marc lloyd-williams. not having that dirty little midfielder from our early non-league days. sean connelly is probably the best.

Sean Connelly is definitely the best of them, not to mention one of our best defenders ever, but that's also a great shout on Dean Emerson.

Isn't Layton Maxwell a ginger?

yeah that's right. one great goal away at gillingham was the only exceptional use of maxwell's silver hammer, although he did score in the home game against them as well.

Definitely 002, Sean Connelly for me.
Leyton Maxwell sounds like either a car from the '70s, or a tube station.

good stuff. pleased it's until the end of the season and not just a one month stop-gap since he's already got some experience of this level.
