Prevent bad trade deals after BrexitIt’s disgusting. Meat from chickens - that has to be dunked in chlorineto make up for unhygienic and poor animal welfare practices in America - could be coming to UK supermarkets shelves. Experts are warning it could increase salmonella.
UK Minister for Trade, Liam Fox,has been caught on camera dismissing these animal welfare and food safety concerns. All after tweeting that he was ready to do an “unlimited” trade deal with Donald Trump.
Right now, politicians are deciding which Brexit approach to support. They could choose a customs union, which protects UK food safety standards. The more MPs who support a customs union, over bad deals with Trump, the more likely it is that our food and animal welfare standards are protected. But to sway them, they need to hear from us, the public. tinyurl.com/y2pxwuks

Signed Gazzman. This is one of the most worrying things for me about Brexit. Our utterly inept negotiators will get whipped by the Americans and a lot of the excellent EU food safety laws will be ripped up.

A few years ago you may remember the fuss over the use of chemical stimulants being given to cattle to fatten them at artificial rates such that in some circumstances their body weight developed so quickly that they couldn't stand up as their legs hadn't developed at the same rate? One of the hormones used, Roxarsone, is a carcinogen. As is azodicarbonamide which is used as a whitening agent in bread, both used legally in the US.
You may also remember that cattle fattened at an accelerated rate were also susceptible to disease and so were routinely treated with large doses of antibiotics which was considered to be one of the reasons why some diseases are becoming antibiotic resistant. The EU banned such practices on the back of public outrage of what was essentially battery farming techniques. It would be tedious to go on but not to worry folks, we're about to reclaim our sovereignty from the crypto-fascists of the EU....just so Fox and his mates can flog it to the yanks.

and the majority will accept it complacently. their disgusting meat industry (i will, yet again, recommend reading 'fast food nation' to demonstrate how ethics right across the sector - hire illegal immigrants, and they won't complain when they blend their arm in meat-packing machinery etc - match with those of the f***ing POTUS (sorry gazz)), corn syrup in everything, climate change denial because it doesn't suit industry.
"i see trees of green..." not for long fella. mcdonalds can't graze cattle on 'em.

Trump not welcome at D-Day event In Portsmouth. We say Trump is not welcome and his invitation to the D-Day commemorations should be cancelled. Why is this important? The invitation to Donald Trump for the D-Day commemorations is completely unacceptable. The D-Day commemorations are about the human sacrifice made in the struggle against fascism. Donald Trump is the only presidential candidate to receive the backing of the Ku Klux Klan. When Nazis chanted "Jews will not replace us" in Charlottesville, he described people demonstrating on both sides as "very fine people". He failed to distinguish between fascists and anti-fascists on the very same weekend that Heather Heyer was mown down in a car and murdered by a Nazi. Trump has retweeted posts by "Britain first" (the fascist grouping along with the EDL and BNP that have been banned from Facebook). Far from being a unifying figure, Trump's presidency has promoted bigotry. There are so many other reasons why his presence here is not conducive to the public good. His general racism, his boasting about grabbing women's genitals, because he thinks you're entitled to do it if you're privileged. His appalling misogyny, his transphobia, and hostility to the LGBT community and his general philistinism. It is an insult to all those who died fighting fascism that Trump, who has done so much to encourage fascists and the far right, has been invited to the D-Day commemorations in Portsmouth. tinyurl.com/y4xccomvf*** off, Trump, you Orange-gobbed rug head.

the deeply unpleasant May what a horror show f***ing shambles that lot are when the grey lady, the ghost of immigration f***-ups past, dancing stiffly up to the lecturn to the strains of 'dancing queen' (i suppose there isn't a song called 'dancing c***') like rigor mortis has set in, and looking to exact the will of the people even though she doesn't f***ing agree with them................................................is guaranteed to be less of a shiny booted sturmfuhrer than whichever of the venal night of the long knives c***s replaces her.

Vive le resistance bit.ly/2SDrEnu You mean "don't be a Tory"? I'll happily sign it, Duds, but this one is akin to signing a petition to bears asking them not to sh*t in the woods.

" The Amazon is still in flames, and shows no sign of slowing down. News outlets recently reported that over 4,000 fires were started over a period of 48 hours - and that’s after the government banned people from starting fires.
Governments have so far failed to stand up to Brazil’s President Bolsonaro who’s determined to destroy the Amazon for cattle and animal feed. But brands are speaking out - and making an impact. Just last week, H&M said they won’t source leather from Brazil until it can guarantee those goods are not contributing to deforestation in the Amazon.
Humans started these fires, and we can put them out too. The bosses of McDonald’s, KFC, and Burger King know they are sourcing vasts amounts of meat and soya from Brazil. It’s time they joined H&M and sent a clear message that they won't have anything to do with forest destruction. Can you email the bosses of these fast food companies and demand that they take a stand?
Companies like KFC, Burger King and McDonald's have all promised to end deforestation - but they've failed. Now they’re staying silent whilst the Amazon goes up in flames.
Not everyone is burying their head in the sand. People around the world are still going to Brazilian consulates and embassies in protest. Foreign leaders have already spoken out against the Brazilian President’s agenda. It’s now time for the food industry to do the same so Brazil’s President feels pressure from all sides.
President Bolsonaro might be resistant to political pressure, but he will have to respond when he sees that companies are deserting Brazil in droves over his Amazon destruction.
Can you ask the bosses of KFC, Burger King and McDonalds to stop sourcing meat and animal feed from Brazil until the Amazon and its people are protected?
The bosses of KFC, Burger King and McDonalds have the power to stop president Bolsonaro in his tracks, but they won’t act without public pressure to do so. This movement is now over 150,000 people strong. If we flood the inboxes of these bosses, they’ll have little wiggle room for standing by and doing nothing.
Can you help pressure these fast food brands to take a stand?"tinyurl.com/y4flou8v------------------------------------------- If you're ever going to get involved in anything on this thread, please consider make it this one.

Duly signed mate. It won't make a jot of difference to them but hey ho! Now, if enough people vote with their wallets and take their business elsewhere then the b*st*rds who run these junkfood emporia will be forced to think again because their shareholders will be jumping up and down. I'm not going to hold my breath. If the damage to their customers health that eating the crap they sell isn't going to make them change their habits, the small matter of the destruction of the planet is unlikely to trouble them either.
