A week after our visit to Atherton, we receive their near(ish)-neighbours from Bolton:

And before both of those mid-weekers, Preston are coming to town:

A nice set of balanced friendlies so far, hopefully both Preston and Bolton will send at least a few first teamers for the occasions!

Are these going to be development squads?

I imagine they may well be, matey. Certainly, Bolton have tended to send their youngsters for these in recent pre-seasons.
Having said that, neither Bolton's nor Preston's website - bwfc.co.uk and pnefc.net - distinguish between their friendlies with us and other clubs at this stage. Spaces to watch, I guess...!

Cheers, matey. It'll be good to see some established players at EP, not least to give our lads a taste of what's further up the ladder if they work hard enough.

Cheers for sharing the full schedule, archie. We appear to have lost the trip to Atherton on 18th July - which Collieries, on their website, now announce 'has unfortunately had to be cancelled due to a clash in fixtures' (with our Reserves now visiting Ashton United that evening): athertoncollieries.co.uk/news/news-pre-season-schedule/I have edited this thread's opening post accordingly.

Isn't it great to see the club being so organised in preparing for next season so soon after this one has ended, it's so typical of Jim. I've got a really good feeling about our chances for 17/18!

Whether it takes 1 year or 40 years, Jim is absolutely the right man for the job, his line up of balanced friendlies proves what he's looking for, weaker teams for blooding kids, bedding in new signings such as Cheadle Heath etc. sides similarish to ours in standard like Alty, Ashton, Macc etc and then sides higher up the league, a bench mark almost in Preston and Bolton.
The man knows what he's doing!
