He's a total embarrassment for a lot of Americans, yet for some unknown reason he has a loyal following.
I really hope they all wake up in time to stop him at the polls. Sadly there's no guarantee he wont win.

I'd suggest that the reasons for Trump's popularity are known. He gives his base what they want to hear and the similarities between the US and this country are now quite striking. The US has a long history of violent racism and whilst large scale massacres of black people no longer occur there are clear echoes of that which continue today. That's why he refuses to condemn those guilty of racist attacks including murder whilst condemning States and towns controlled by Democrats for failing to counter BLM protests. I'd also suggest that there is plenty of evidence that the our Government is beginning to follow the same path.
I took the trouble to look at the comments section under recent MSM pieces about migrants attempting to come to this country and in particular the death by drowning of a 16 year old from Sudan and was genuinely horrified by what I read. One might reasonably expect to find more compassion and humanity in a pigsty than was openly displayed by some contributors who cannot even regard migrants as fellow human beings.
These people are now emboldened by the hysterical rantings of Farage who apparently continues to foam at the mouth at the Government's failure to stem the "invasion" of immigrants from continental Europe despite the numbers for this year still being less than you'd expect at EP for a home game. Emboldened also by the failure of the utterly grotesque Therese Coffey, Minister of State for Social Security refusing to express any kind of compassion for Mercy Beguma whose dead body was found next to her extremely distressed baby in Glasgow in circumstances of extreme poverty caused directly by the policies of the Tory Government.
Research has suggested that one of the reasons for the pro-Brexit vote was the idea amongst many Tory voters that they haven't done as well under successive Tory Governments as they thought that they should have. It's clearly far easier for them to blame the mysterious "other," the immigrant, illegal or otherwise who has stolen their job, their benefits, their place on the social housing ladder or their place in the NHS queue than it is to look at themselves for not taking advantage of the educational opportunities available to them or to acknowledge that actually, they don't want to pick fruit and veg or wipe the arses of hospital patients who can't do it for themselves, or drive a bus, etc.
It's also clearly beyond their cognitive ability to recognise that the shortage of social housing has been caused by the succession of Tory Governments who they have supported forcing councils to sell such housing at discounted rates whilst refusing to allow them to reinvest the proceeds back into more social housing. The fact that that refusal has now been removed changes nothing since 10 years of Tory austerity have left councils so financially straightened they can't provide basic services never mind build social housing. It's equally beyond them to see through the lies of the Duncan-Smith's of this world who promote the idea of "health-tourism" despite there being no evidence to support the claim.
Such people are also clearly incapable of recognising that they are being lied to, shamelessly and brazenly by a Government itself led by a shallow, vacuous, empty shell of a man currently masquerading as Prime Minister who recognises nothing to be as important as the satisfaction of his own desires, aided and abetted by a coterie of sycophants he calls his cabinet and other assorted hanger-on. Hancock's recent defence of Tony Abbott whose principle qualification appears to be his right-wing political views, as apparent choice of Trade negotiator despite the latter's well-known homophobic views is merely one of a number of instances which include Truss suggesting that opposition to such an individual is mere virtue signalling and which combined are an attempt to generate a new "normal", a normal in which extremes of view are acceptable and, by inference opposition to which becomes in the words of some of these people "traitorous".
I'd also suggest that many Tories are also quite happy to vote for the party as long as the consequences of that vote are felt by others. They're happy to vote for others to pay by having the services they need cut to finance Osborne's futile attempts at cutting Government expenditure but my God! Damage little Johnny's chances of going to the university he so deserves to go to then sit back and listen to the whining classes spilling their guts over that and as for tax rises to pay for their "eat out to help out" frenzy forget it. Poor? You deserve less, sick or disabled? Tough sh*t, just don't ask them to contribute. I think Sunak has a major challenge on his hands bringing the Tory Party with him on proposed tax rises and one I doubt he's up to, particularly if he has long-term ambition to be party leader.
History offers plenty of examples of the manipulation of truth, the vilification of minorities and the usurping of power by political minorities such as those within the Tory Party who are now clearly driving this country towards a no-deal Brexit despite all their promises to the contrary during the referendum campaign, minorities of political extremists that achieve positions of power by what Lord Hailsham described as "elective dictatorship" over 40 years ago. History also demonstrates that it never ends well.

No one gets Covid better than me. There is no President before that had Covid like I did. Many people say how great I am at contracting Covid. No-one has better Covid symptoms that I do. I am the greatest Covid patient in the history of Covid patients, maybe ever. Doctors are impressed. They say I have the best Covid ever. In fact, I've got Covid 20 which is much better than Covid 19.

i'm ungracious enough to have thought it would serve the c*** right if he dies after presiding over a covid response that almost makes ours look competent, with him supporting the gun-toting marchers against lockdown in democrat controlled states.

Then, when he's dead, go on live TV and declare that "It's a great day for Donald"! tw##.
