What's the difference between a Man U*d penalty and David Moyes?
The penalty will be missed.

Lol, it was his face last night that amused me the most, total bewilderment. I wonder what old red nose is thinking as he's seeing 27 years of hard work being undone? Brilliant!

this is what happens when too much expectation is placed on someone who is new to a job. All the Fools who thought as per usual they had the automatic right to win everything were happily( deserved lol) kicked the dangly bits but still blindly look on but do not see what is obvious to all. Moyes is not ready to lead Un*ted to any success just yet. I hope he never will lol however............very funny to watch lol hahahahahahahaha

Good point, Stu. I think Moyes' biggest problem is actually Roberto Martinez. He was in the same position as Moyes, but has done much better. Martinez doesn't need an excuse - he just bought and sold well and is a good manager. Unlike Davey-boy... (For the record, these images have not been done by me. All I did was search the internet and upload the pictures - and Gazza can take most of the credit for me being able to upload images!) In other news, I invented a new word yesterday: 'Plagiarism'

Martinez is not under the same exact pressure that any united boss after fergie would be placed under. Everton benefitted a lot from Moyes and the fruits of his work as showing as a result of that. Martinez hasn't needed to alter much at Everton and so the results there will prove to be so. However the expectation at money grabber fc are such that any changes are turned into major problems by the media and the lack of patience by the money men and the fans for instant success.
Also Managers like Martinez had nothing to prove at Everton. his FA Cup win with Wigan showed he is capable of building a team that despite the league relegation could on its day match up with anyone and win. Everton are not expected to win the title but are expected to be in Europe in some capacity sometime in the next two years - that will be Martinez's objective - any cup wins domestically will be a bonus but nothing more.

It's worth pointing out that had Ferguson taken over that 1986 United team in this era and achieved exactly the same results he did in his first few seasons, he wouldn't have got the chance to win a single title. He spent huge amounts of money. If he owes his shot at success to anyone, it's to Lee Martin, his goal in the 1990 final saved his job.
Moyes was always going to find it tough, and it's going to get worse before it gets better, assuming the board afford him enough time to find out if it gets better.

and mark robins, earlier in the cup run...
i think martinez has altered quite a lot at everton. they've allied much more 'football' to their already established industry. i think under moyes they were like a posh version of stoke - pulis felt (probably rightly during their first couple of seasons) that they needed to play a particular way that other teams were uncomfortable up against in order to stay in the division. moyes felt (also probably rightly most of the time) that if everton wanted to gatecrash the party at the top end of the table on a more limited budget, they would need to be solid, and not necessarily that imaginative, but their compactness would make them difficult to beat. i reckon because he'd kept them at the business end of the table for most of his decade there, even getting them in the champions league (with hilarious results), that there was real pressure on martinez. if everton had a poor start this season, questions would quickly have been asked, and he'd have come under real pressure. instead, results have been good so far. the top clubs are still too far away from them financially, but he'll keep them finishing 5th-7th (maybe even a challenge for 4th), but also playing more attractive football. that's got to be a bit of a winner for their fans.
it was always going to be tough for moyes though. as has been said many times, it wasn't just them having a new manager, but a new chief exec as well. they had a very poor transfer window and that delayed the rebuilding process. i'm just greatly enjoying it, and hoping that it's an empire in decline on the basis that all empires decline. i'm not completely convinced theirs will though!

If Rooney is on £250,000 a week, it's crazy. If Rooney gets 20% on his new contract, it's crazy. If Rooney finishes up on £300,000 a week, it's crazy. If Rooney leaves and gets more than £300,000 a week, it's crazy. If any of this is true, it's crazy. If football continues like this, then it's crazy. Some may think it's all fine and not crazy, but for me, it's definitely crazy.
