While we work out what to do about Week K, best crack on with the rest of the alphabet!
Here are a few films beginning with M to get you started:
Mary Poppins (1964) Matrix, The (1999) Memphis Belle (1990) Men in Black (1997) Mission: Impossible (1996)
Happy voting!

Mentions for:
'Mission Impossible (1996)' (the best of the M.I. movies in my opinion, and one of Cruise's best movies to date) 'The Man With The Golden Gun' 'Men In Black' 'Magnum Force' Bogart's brilliant 'The Maltese Falcon' & 'The Matrix' (Yes, you read me correctly, it's not my choice!)*
Another mention for the fantastic 'My Cousin Vinny', with Joe Pesci, Marisa Tomei, Ralph Macchio and the late, great Fred 'Herman Munster' Gwynne - he was just superb as Judge Chamberlain Haller.
However, my vote goes to 'Mike Bassett: England Manager'
* The Matrix is absolutely superb, but they ruined my retrospective view of the movie by making those two ridiculous sequels.

Agreed - both sequels were truly awful - but the original is getting my vote. The Matrix for me!

Monty Python and the Holy Grail for me. Without doubt, the most genuinely funny of all films Pythonesque.

If you'd said the TV series of MASH then it would have been a nailed on certainty in Leicestershire but I think similar to others - it was hysterical
Mike Bassett - England Manager

lots of mentions this week but i'm not sure there's an outstanding candidate. 'the majestic', is one of two jim carrey films i can watch without self-harming. frank ('shawshank', 'green mile') darabont's direction probably helps. 'man bites dog', was a piece of budget belgian lunacy that seemed revolutionary at the time - a group of film makers following around a serial killer, watching his 'business', listening to him philosophise, and eventually getting involved themselves.
billy-bob thornton is great in 'the man who wasn't there', 'me and you and everyone we know', is quirky and lovely in places. the two 'mesrine' films - effectively the french 'scarface', about a real gangster. surprised no mentions of 'memento' (more 'neighbours' fun), or the brilliant 'midnight cowboy' - just john barry's theme alone, and nilsson's 'everybody's talkin' are among the best music ever used in films.
going to say the quite horrible 'mississippi burning', for my winner though. civil rights workers go missing in the deep south in the 1960's, and the hunt for them exposes the hateful, intolerant underbelly of the time. first saw it in the eighties, and i was horrified at how shamefully recent it was. some great stuff from gene hackman, willem dafoe and frances mcdormand, and then various noted nutters such as brad dourif, r lee ermey and michael rooker. great, if horrible.

Hmmmmmmmm, lots of M's....
Microcosmos Millers Crossing Million Dollar Baby Monty Python and the Holy Grail Memento My Cousin Vinnie Mean Streets Meet the Parents Me and You and Everyone We Know The Man with Two Brains Man Bites Dog Mallrats Mulholland Drive Mars Attacks Mike Bassett: England Manager Murder by Death
But my vote goes to an all time family favourite: Muppets Christmas Carol.

Shortlist of The Magnificent Seven Manhattan Midnight Run The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance M*A*S*H Difficult and I'll need to give it time to brew. The Magnificent Seven - great theme and pub quiz question (answer: Brad Dexter). Manhattan - brilliant opening monologue cascading into Gershwin's sublime music Midnight Run - 2 fine actors being genuinely funny. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance - the ultimate western defining the end of the wild west. M*A*S*H - one of the very few films I can watch again and again and pick up on something new each time. Gets my vote.
