Evening all
Apologies this is a week later than planned, and particular apologies to ceefer who got his Week Y suggestions to me ahead of schedule, only for me to forget to post them.
Here they are:
Yodelling
So here you have it - ' it's an effect produced in singing by an abrupt change of register from the chest voice to falsetto, especially in popular folk songs of the Swiss Alps', not to be confused with those white and green painted vans who 'deliver' parcels across the UK.
If you take it really seriously you also get to dress up and cavort in the Swiss or French Alps, with 'visions' of 'Climb every Mountain', and the Sound of Music'. It is a skill (check out Youtube), but I guess the question is would you listen to it again?
Young Conservatives
(now known as Conservative Future, but whats the difference?)
We are led to believe a large part of its appeal lay in its social activities that brought young people together in a socially safe environment and many middle-class British couples met, babies were conceived (in a safe environment?),at the "YC's" dances and events in the 1950s.
Hague announced the closure of Young Conservatives in '98 and launched its replacement; Conservative Future. Why was there a need to re-brand, one might ask. Either way apparently once you reach the age of 30 you are no longer the Conservative Future. Maybe you are old enough then to be able to work out the truth from the propaganda... For me every time, you'd have more fun with club 18-30's.
Y fronts
In Britain, the American style of jockey briefs are often referred to as "Y-fronts".
Ghastly visions of 'Carry On' films spring to mind..but fear not, apparently House of Fraser do 'stylish Y fronts online. Even funnier when I clicked on the link, it came up with Womens dresses, and not a Y front was to be seen...
Lets be honest, would your girlfriend, wife or mistress call you 'sex on legs' if you were wearing Y fronts?
The balls in your court as they say...get voting!

Yep - with you all the way there, Comrade Gaz!
And, besides, yodelling is cool. Or, at least it was for a nano-second in the '80s - when the self-styled 'King of Caledonian Swing' threw in the odd burst at the end of his songs...
Take it away, Doug!

Three in a row, there is no worse sight in civilisation than those hooray firkin Henry's whooping up the champers.
They may have rebranded themselves but they are still the same bullying, toffee-nosed, self-centred, obnoxious, odious, repulsive, vile, sickening Tory toe-rags they always were.

Now I'm going to be unpopular - I quite like the Tories.
No, of course not. Get in the f***ing vault.

Never come across a yodeller so I can't say they annoy me enough be banished into the vault. I've never voted in my life so I can't say I know anything about any politicians so I can't vote for them. I never wear underwear so i'll have to vote for the restricting garments that are Y-fronts.

I've never come across a yodeller in my life and probably never will so as long as they confine themselves to the Swiss Alps I have no reason to vote for them.
Y-Fronts are a standard style of underwear, no issues from me there.
Young Tories however...a breeding ground for Britain's most pretentious, snobby, class dividing, inbred, pig f*cking, social elite who would very happily condemn anyone earning less than 75k a year to the vault! They HAVE to go into it for me, a pretty obvious choice this week mate!

Think it has to be young tories for me as well, don't really have time for any politicians, they are all as bad as each other in my opinion, making promise after promise and then providing nothing like they promised.
Have no problem with yodellers and nothing wrong with Y fronts.

Yodelling does have a practical use in certain areas of the Alps, apparently. I can still remember Frank Ifields's attempt to partake in the pastime (not convincing from an Aussie).
Y fronts have been upholding the futures of generations of young thrusters. Think of all those encased spermatazoa that owe there existence and warmth to those icons of fashion.
Sadly, The Young Conservatives also owe their very existence to the said Y fronts and probably take part on yodelling competitions at their gatherings. I only have to think of Cameron's cronies and Maggie's morons to place my vote this week.
No contest, YC it is.

imagine david cameron if you can bear to. now imagine the twenty year old, top-end public school educated, david cameron, studying at oxford. can you imagine the tw## he must have been? i should probably have put 'posh young people' into week 'p'. not their fault that they're born into wealth, but unbearable in all their whinnying, bullingdon club, old school tie "ra ra ra - we're going to smash the oiks" as they ascend into place at the top of the banking and media sectors, or through political parties whose manifestos are primarily about protecting the self-interested status quo that will allow their children and their children's children to go to public school and oxbridge, and ascend into place at the top of the banking and media sectors or political parties.
they are your illuminati, your lizard men, your global conspiracy. they won't legislate for a better deal for you and i, but they're f***ing good when it comes to feathering their own pay-risen nests, surrounded of course, by sparklingly clean moats on expenses. they are venal in their entitled expectation that this is the way of things, and young tories, their crass hatchlings, not even pretending to be anything other than the braying polo-meet leadership class by birth. no pig's heads were harmed in this rant.
good choices ceefer. the only worse thing i can imagine is the twenty year old david cameron, yodelling, in y-fronts. having generated this image for myself, i suspect i'll never sleep again.

That has to be the most brilliant, honest and brutal assessment of the Tories I have ever read, ARS!

Excellent choices, ceef.
Yodellers are a bit unnerving in that morris-dancing kind of way. It is essentially hamrless, but it just does not compute as to why anyone would do it or find it interesting.
A great shout with young c's, well supported by fudge's and ars' excellent posts. I do think that these descriptions could apply to politicians in any party. Across all parties there are the stuck up elite who are out of touch with reality. Admittedly the tories win that competition hands down, but...
I do have an irrational dislike of y-fronts. They are the work of the devil and there really should be some sort of law against them. I don't know what the latin phobia is for y-fronts, but I've definitely got it. I agree it defies logic, unlike the young c's, but it's my vote and I'll cast it for yf's if I want to!
