With the club investing money, I believe on the pitch is priority with off-field amenities a work in progress. A lick of paint on the windows wouldn't have gone a miss I agree, but as we could tell they were doing work in the pressbox with laminate flooring being laid amongst other things. I'm assuming a lick of paint and other things being touched up over the summer will be happening.
My main gripe is with James making these comments when he has no benchmark except Edgeley Park.

Right. I now realise my ignorance and yes, all I have to go off is EP, Hyde and Barrow. If that's your only issue with the comments then I apologise, I think I need to do a few more trips before making remarks like that. I'm sure you understand my lack of experience in the field compared to the rest of you and so I don't realise how lucky we are at County. I'll remove my comments and admit that I'm wrong as I acted out of ignorance and not knowledge. I'll think before I type next time.
James.

My main gripe is with James making these comments when he has no benchmark except Edgeley Park. I do understand that, mate. It'd be unfair to use us as a benchmark I agree, not least because a lot of the good work at EP is done by Fitzy and the excellent group of volunteers. Having said that, whether they have on-field priorities or not, for a club with money and looking to progress the image they project to the visiting media should be of paramount importance. It's a question of professional pride, just because you have an outside toilet it doesn't mean you don't have to clean the seat. Those windows shouldn't have been allowed to get into that state. How much does it cost for a bottle of Windolene, a tin of paint and a paintbrush? Anyway, I know where you're coming from regarding facilities such as wi-fi etc, and you're right. We have to be realistic with our expectations.

I was planning, later this month, to put together an end-of-season summary of the Conference North clubs' press facilities - having enjoyed/endured (delete as applicable!) most of those on offer this term Barrow's may not have been the best - especially so far as lack of wi-fi was concerned - but they do stand good comparison with most at this level. And, in terms of hospitality, I would want to say that we were certainly well looked after. I feel a League table coming on... watch this space!

Do Ramsbottom qualify for this table, if so, then we MUST have a winner from Black Pudding Country!

Funny you should mention Ramsbottom, if there was an award for worse press hospitality, Rammy would walk away with it.

I enjoyed it! I enjoyed the food they had, enjoyed the view from the little box and the seats were comfy!
Though I was on the Radio for that one!

My end-of-season press-facilities table will indeed include Rammy - as well as the various other clubs to whom we paid visits in Cup competitions.
Like nlr, I had to make do without a seat there, though. Might be the odd point knocked off for that...!
