I've just asked the man from Del Monte what band he wants to vote for this week...

yo la tengo. have dipped in and out of their stuff for many years, but particularly the 1997 and 2000 albums 'i can hear the heart beating as one' with lots of beautiful warm guitar-pop, and 'and then nothing turned itself inside-out' featuring the lovely 'last days of disco'. they're very generous live too - i was once cooking a barbecue when i realised i was supposed to be watching them at leeds city varieties (i'd bought the ticket weeks before). i rocketed down to the venue, they'd been playing at least half an hour, and i still got 90 minutes of them. was ready for my bit of the barbecue by the time they'd finished.

Time is up. Neil Young narrowly wins, and will be entered into our Hall of Fame shortly.
Week Z to follow.

A closer race than some weeks, but you can't begrudge the Godfather of Grunge his place on the CD.
Shame about Young Marble Giants, but I suspect they will be appearing on at least 2 HIS mixed tapes!

You and I both know Celine was never going to beat Bob Dylan.

Nice try but Celine isn't a real Canadian!
Firstly she's from Quebec that has tried to gain independence from Canada and she represented Switzerland at the Eurovision!
Separatist Swiss b*tch!
