One person dies and three police are hurt when shots are fired at an event organised by controversial Swedish artist Lars Vilk:One person is confirmed to have been killed after shots were fired at a meeting held in a Copenhagen cafe to discuss free speech.
A 40-year-old man died and three police officers are understood to have been injured in the attack on Krudttoenden cafe shortly before 4pm local time on Saturday afternoon.
The event had been organised by Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who had faced a number of threats to his life after caricaturing the Prophet Mohammed in 2007.
About 30 bullet holes were seen in the windows of cafe in the north of the city after the attack and at least two people were seen being taken away on stretchers, local channel TV2 said.
Witnesses said the police returned fire after someone shouted and fired an automatic weapon at the cafe.
Another of the organisers Helle Merete Brix said Mr Vilks was present at the event but not injured.Full story here

dunno, but if we don't stay vigilent, we're all going to be wearing bearskin hats pretty soon, comrade... Some worrying activity, the guy is one sinister character. During the Russian GP last year there was one moment where his vanity was there for all to see. The TV camera panned to him in his private seated area, sat alone right on the middle row and in the middle of a sh*t load of empty seats. Next time the camera goes there, the area is packed and he's surrounded by people. He's a nutcase, and not to be trusted.

It's okay Gazza. I was watching question time last night and Hezeltine says we need to just make friends with Russia because we have mutual enemies.
Don't mention the Crimea!
I said it once but I think I got away with it.

Is it just me, but it seems unbelievable that Russia got to host the winter olympics & get the next world cup, and now they are serious questions about
- Litvinenko - Ukraine - flights and subs in European air and sea space - Nemtsov
Just really annoys me that this is likely to go ahead, in a country where civil liberties are tightly controlled.
The world cup there is yet another FIFA debacle.

Harrison Ford continues to do his own stunts !!
He's only landed an ancient aircraft with engine failure on a golf course.
Hope he's going to repair those divots.

Speculation rife as world waits for Putin to reappear:Can there ever have been such importance attached to a planned meeting between the Russian and Kyrgyz presidents, in which they will discuss trade, investment, cultural and humanitarian co-operation?
Such is the strange atmosphere in Moscow nowadays that Monday's meeting in St Petersburg - assuming it takes place - will be scrutinised like no other.
And all this because there's been no verifiable sighting of the omnipotent and normally omnipresent Vladimir Putin since 5 March.
Such a long, unexplained absence from public view has fuelled rumours among the chattering classes here and across the internet, that something is wrong - that the president might be sick or even dead or he could be the victim of a palace coup.
With persistent denials from the Kremlin doing little to dampen the speculation, Monday's meeting could be a key moment.Full article here
