FIFA just dont learn do they. A kid could run things better. Since when did Summer = Winter?
Blatter is a joker...
But the good news is it shouldnt affect County unless we sign some junior 'internationals'...

Looking better now with just two candidates. Thing is we just don't know what a Blatter has on the Football Feds if anything.
"The English Football Association and Scottish FA also intend to support Prince Ali - the only other presidential candidate in the election in Zurich following the withdrawals of Luis Figo and Michael van Praag."

Token election, I think Blatter will walk it. I think he's got far too much dirt on the people with far too much to lose.
I hope I'm wrong though.

Blatter should never be allowed to a football match again let alone to be the figurehead of OUR sport!

The corruption at FIFA is not even a badly kept secret. In some ways, I even almost feel bad for some of these guys who simply couldn't turn down a massive wedge of money that was waved under their nose. I just hope the investigation also reaches and prosecutes those who offered the money for the role they have played in corrupting the game in the name of corporate interests and national / personal legacy.
The whole affair just emphasizes the utter contempt that organizations like FIFA and those who paid its representatives off have for normal people. It's very depressing indeed.
But the cricket's looking up!

Best news ever to come out of International Football since England won the World Cup.
7 arrests - £97 million (yes million) of bribes. Good grief !!!!!
20 years of corruption about to be exposed. Hopefully the tip of the iceberg and ALL involved are brought to book, including the ringmaster himself.

Which, of course why he's going for re-election yet again. 5 more years to cover it all up and cover his tracks. It will also be 5 more years of him grooming a successor who will continue the grubby fiefdom he has set up. There are too many officials in too many associations who will be around long after he's gone who have too vested an interest in keeping the brown envelopes flowing - to keep them in the life to which they are accustomed, and to keep them out of jail. Sad to say, but I can't see FIFA changing for a long long time. The FA have taken a principled stance against it all, which is to be admired, however the consequences will be felt for years. The problem is that governments don't care, so there is no one powerful enough to stop it. Makes me sick.

Another very good post that, Eps, and I too fear that the brown envelope culture will long outlive Blatter. He is just the tip of a very large iceberg, and any ship of hope and integrity that dares to take it on will be sunk without a trace.
The only way we will truly see the end of the corruption is if the major nations broke away and formed a new international association, sadly I don't think that will happen either.

Unfortunately, we're still paying the price for 1966 when Stanley Rous was FIFA boss. Quarter-finals: England-Argentina. German ref, Argentinian sent off, England progress. W Germany-Uruguay. English ref, 2 Uruguayans sent off, W Germany progress.
Obviously, nothing in it but memories are long.
The FA wouldn't recognise a principled stance if Ricky Hatton delivered it with a left hook. Has Greg Dyke finally returned that watch?
