I suppose I best also give a shout out to another band - from the Preston pub and rock club scene:
The Dragstrip Junkies.
It's only fair that, if County Heaven is compiling an A-Z of artists, any bands featuring one of our brethren should get a mention. True, my younger brother hasn't yet signed up to the 'new' incarnation of CH, but he's still one of us so his band should receive a nod.

Just as a bit of fun, maybe we can suggest appropriate songs from the selected artists. For instance, if we voted Dylan on to the CD, we could have (Their Right Back Tackles) Just Like A Woman and Cream could do (Why Do They Keep Mucking About With The) Badge or (In My Blue &) White Room. The Animals? (I've Just Been To The Game And) I'm Crying.

Right, as I know my nomination isn't going to win, I think I'll make this a long one. #SorryNotSorry
Where to start? If did my own top 10 of musical artists, the Canadian Joel Zimmerman, aka deadmau5, would be 1st. And 2nd. And all the way to 10. I own every single song he's ever produced, have all CDs that he's released and a considerable vinyl collection to boot. I also have everything from LED t-shirts to portable speakers. And for some reason I'm single, but I digress.
The one thing I haven't done yet is see him 'live'. This is mainly due to age restriction rather than choice but as he's just announced his Entropy world tour for next year, that should soon be changing. And here come the inevitable YouTube videos of what I (and most likely the rest of the forum) have missed out on.
The former one is when he did a promotional performance for Nokia with the help of a skyscraper in London. And for those with a bit more spare time, the latter is this year's Ultra Music Festival performance, in which about half way through he takes the michael out of Martin Garrix and the 'EDM scene' in general.
If we did a music video top 10, he would also top that. This was the highest budget Electronic music dance video ever produced and boy was it worth it.
And finally, a bit of music by itself. The greatest song ever produced.
I could literally post hundreds of videos that are incredible (in my eyes) but I'm not really up for getting banned.
So erm... vote deadmau5!

irrelevant to anyone but me, i'd forgotten dan bejar's baroque pop presence as destroyer. literate, funny and forever finding new approaches.

Given the equivocal rules, I'd like to recommend Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks although most self-respecting record stores have them under 'H'. (for any Thomas Dolby fans:

Feel free to stop taking part if the equivocal rules irk you too much.
Or take over running this yourself if I'm doing such a sh*t job of it.

Forgot the extra smiley to underline that. Apologies. While I'm here, also a mention for the Drifters although, with over 60 members over the years they barely qualify as a single group.

Neil Diamond is worth a mention.
'Love on the Rocks' being a favourite of mine, one of his many hit singles over the years.
Anyway, come on folks, need a couple more votes for The Doors, you know it makes sense.

Eppers - Dodgy's career was all-too-brief, but I've recently purchased an Indie compilation to remind me of the 90's and it's in the car at the moment. 'Staying Out for the Summer' was blasted out of the stereo only yesterday! Dug out Homegrown and listened to it on the way down to Warwick today. What a fantastic album. Free Peace Sweet* ready for the way back home. *The CD with the second worst album title I own (with F.U.E.L by Sugar taking a clear first place)

Even though 'Walk of life' has been my favourite song of all time since i was about 3 years old I am not going for Dire Straits for D.
After seeing them live a couple of years ago I would recommend any 80's music lover (haha what other decade is there?) to go and see this band as they are amazing live and have definitely still got it.
Ladies and gentlemen I give you Deacon Blue
