Easy choice for me this week. Not that it will simplify the scoring, mind... They haven't been mentioned as yet, but my vote goes to, in their words, 'The Only Band That Matters': The Clash. Far more the heart and soul of punk rock than the Pistols - or any other act, for that matter - The Clash gave us, in their self-titled first long-player, the best debut ever, and, in London Calling, the best double-album. They drew on a wide range of cross-cultural influences - reggae, dub, ska, rockabilly among them - and were politically charged. And they made me go out and get my first-ever (some would say only) decent haircut. Case closed...

Update
Cream 2 Callahan, Bill 1 Charlatans, The 1 Clash, The 1 Cohen, Leonard 1 Connells, The 1 Cooke Sam 1 Costello, Elvis 1 Crosby, Stills & Nash 1
Looks like being an extremely close week (and one where none of my starting suggestions score a single vote - should have stuck with my original list and not listened to the wife!)

An unerring desire to look like Julian Speroni!

I'm here to make matters worse by not voting for anything mentioned so far (mainly because I've haven't heard of half of them but never mind). Week C isn't a great one for me but I'm going to go for something a bit different to what's been suggested already, The Cinematic Orchestra. To Build A Home is one the simplest yet most beautiful songs ever written.
I can see my votes not really meaning that much in the grand scheme of things but I'm really going to push next week's nomination....

I can see my votes not really meaning that much in the grand scheme of things.... Not at all, Shrops, your vote is every bit as important as any other. Besides which, one or two of us may end up listening to stuff we've never heard of thanks to suggestions such as yours, and indeed Downy's Leonard Cohen vote. It's all good, mate!

Gazza's right Shrops and I'll give that a listen myself in a bit.
I have a sneaking suspicion I know what's getting your vote next week, just like I know what Gazza will be voting for the week after!

I know what you're getting at guys but what I was trying to say was that I can almost guarantee that whatever I vote for will get no other votes. Not that that's gonna stop me mind...
And I agree with Gazza, fantastic idea Sandy!

Downy's Leonard Cohen vote. I'm not quite sure how I forgot about Leonard Cohen. He definitely gets my back up vote - and I'm tempted to change it from Elvis Costello. I haven't listened to him for ages, so cheers Downy for the reminder. Gazza - Take this Waltz, First we take Manahttan and Everybody Knows are a good place to start. Also, I imagine Hallelujah is one of the most covered songs of all time, but none better than the original.

Collins, Max
I'm almost certain that no one apart from Gazza will have heard of this chap, but he's the front man of a band called Eve 6 who I (and now Gazza thanks to me!) am a massive fan of.
A few months back he released his first solo album which is very different to anything the band have released, and the song Sports Bar for me stands out. Gazza may disagree on this!
The video is very, VERY weird though if you'd care to watch it:
Great song though!
(of course, I'm not voting unless there's a tie so this is just because I wanted to give him a mention!)

I think the magic of Max's songwriting is that you can play his stuff all week and have a different favourite song every day.
His work deserves far greater acclaim than he's had so far.

Woah, I'm not trying to influence the voting! It's up to you matey. I personally don't think Max would fit into the album too well and no one has heard of him other than us!
