Gary left to go to America to play/coach didn't he?
If he's coming back I can only assume it's either not worked out for him unfortunately, or he misses home.
Not sure on what basis this rumour has been generated, but if he is indeed coming back and looking for a club I'm sure we'd be top of his list, and that JG would love him back.
He's not the creative CM we're crying out for like Osbourne, but he brings a lot to the table - not just his energy and positivity around the dressing room, but also on the pitch. For this level he's a great all rounder, he's very versatile and also has the ability to pop up with a goal or two. I certainly think he would have been an asset for us in the run in and on that basis I would welcome him back with open arms.

adeloye sounds interesting - if he managed to get binned off at altrincham that suggests his legs are on the wrong way round, but the rest sounds alright...and in terms of raw players...dicko, tom elliott, a certain big kevin (who i note i have ascended to being the right foot of in my CH ranking)...we've not done too badly over time.
kind of like stopforth but also thought he was a bit overrated. he just buzzed about a lot. clearly osbourne was a completely different type of midfielder, but i immediately didn't miss stopforth for osbourne's month with us. wouldn't mind having stopforth back as such, but let's try and do better instead.
australia by the way gts!

Here's a few clips which would suggest the lad has something more than we had last season up top:
Scoring v Darlo
Winning a penalty v Brackley
Skill and shot
He was a Stoke trainee (like Thomas) so there should be an all-round ability there to exploit. Obviously, a big part is mentality so that's an unknown.

Certainly looks like he has the raw attributes. Again, he's one with an unproven goal record though. Because of this, I'd be wary of going into next season with him as our first choice however if he hits the ground running in a good team he could be a great find. I'm sure his wage demands would be very reasonable given his age and club history, and we already knew we needed at least a couple of 'number 9' type forwards.

If we could get Osborne back, that would be excellent. He's certainly a much better all-round midfielder than anyone we have and he has the added height and strength which Stopforth was mostly able to make up for through sheer will and energy. Stopforth's one of those I wouldn't object to seeing again because of what he adds, but also one who I don't think can play higher which is the kind of 'spec' JG seems to want moving forward.

I'm sure his wage demands would be very reasonable given his age and club history, and we already knew we needed at least a couple of 'number 9' type forwards. Completely agree. A major issue last season was the one-dimensional attack - not only did we rely on one player to finish, but there were 3 versions of the non-scoring 'point attacker' of which only one had the qualities to bring out the best in others (K). In my view, when looking at the league's goalscorers, of those who are PT, live relatively close and are still at this level, Warburton pretty much has the best record. One strong point-attack goalscorer, a Brewster and then someone a bit raw like this guy (who could fill as a #9 or wide attacker) would be my wish. Then the left-sided player can be more of a crosser/assister (like Keane from Worcester) who chips in now and then because there are 3/4/5 finishers in the squad. Overall a more-balanced and varied attack will give the options to break and stretch defences which we didn't have last season... hence the direct nature of the play and the lack of chances being created once teams worked out to stop DL.

Someone on YB is suggesting Sam Walker has left/been released by Salford. Can't say I know much about him, but his numbers from last season certainly seem impressive. 37 starts, 7 goals and 13 assists from central midfield - sounds like he'd be a perfect fit for us...

well the class of 92's resident ginger nut* lasted about 10 minutes once it became clear that he wasn't going to be supported in the way he'd thought. i think jim may well steer clear, and if not then they'd better come through on their promises or it would be a short and unhappy union. 3/10 for fact checking and 2/10 for rumour credibility.
*well one of them - i just remembered nicky butt

I suppose rumours were always going to happen, he's one of the best bits of the team/organisation and best parts are always in demand - but Oldham - really? Who'd want to go there?
