Oooh an app. I’ve been looking at it through the web browser mobile view for 8 years and 8 months. I wonder what I’ve been missing!

Anyone else finding the 'New' button not necessarily taking you to the latest new post just somewhere random on the last page?

Anyone else finding the 'New' button not necessarily taking you to the latest new post just somewhere random on the last page? Same here. I'm not sure what can be done about this, though. It's been raised on the support forum a few times in the past and put down to a browser issue, but I think the Proboards programmers are now heavily involved in finishing version 6 of the platform (we're on version 5), so I don't think issues like this will be seen as a priority to be honest, mate. What browser are you using?

What browser are you using? Chrome. From memory, something like this happened a while back and they fixed it but there are priorities for any business and maybe version 6 will fix it. It's only mildly irritating and I raised it in case I was the only one having trouble. Thanks for the explanation.

It's only mildly irritating and I raised it in case I was the only one having trouble. Thanks for the explanation. No worries, mate. While version 6 may fix this issue, from what I'm seeing and reading, the trade off is going to be a significant one. They're going with a responsive design which is more geared towards the mobile user than version 5, which could mean things like the banners and other County-themed tweaks that we see here may be lost for a while, maybe even permanently. I'm not sold on the new version at all, but we will still be able to stay on version 5 while version 6 beds in following release, so I'll be extensively testing it out on our test forum before changing anything here.

Just a little update to my previous post regarding v6 of the Proboards platform. I found this comment in the development thread for the new version regarding what happens following its release: "...there will be an 18 month overlap between the official rollout of v6 and the retirement of v5."Which is good news, not least for myself, as it should give me plenty of time to try to get my ageing brain around v6! I'm really not looking forward to it, though! For a little insight into the 'Responsive design' they're going with and how it will affect the look of this forum, check out the following link: www.ipages.biz/487/How-Do-I-Choose-Responsive-Banner-ImagesI may very well consider resigning my commission beforehand - true story!

ooh. that looks shite. wonder if by then there'll be some sort of emulator to enable people to run stuff that looks like this < ^ > ? hopefully, because surely there'll be loads of other carefully curated boards that people don't want to lose...

ooh. that looks sh*te. wonder if by then there'll be some sort of emulator to enable people to run stuff that looks like this < ^ > ? hopefully, because surely there'll be loads of other carefully curated boards that people don't want to lose... It's definitely polarised opinion with, unsurprisingly, the older generation fearing the change and the younger looking forward to it. I think it'll look horribly bland no matter what changes I attempt to make, but you can be sure that I'll be testing the new format extensively on, erm, our 'test' forum. It will look nothing like this, though, you can be sure of that - got to keep the smartphone junkies happy! f***ing mobiles.

I don't own a laptop and will be away for 3 weeks from this afternoon. I'll jump on the app at smoko, lunch, even when having a sh*t! I don't get to see all the features that you put all the effort into but it's the comments that are the main thing for me.

When I get home from work I'm sick of the bloody sight of my phone, so I stick it on charge and come on here via my PC. I've worked really hard to give this place a real 'Countyness' which can only be seen in the traditional 'desktop' view and - in my opinion - is so much better than a stale, bland, faceless Mobile browser. The mobile-'friendly' design of the new V6 is going to absolutely destroy everything I've done over the past 6 years on here to give this a real County feel. It may seem like my view is somewhat biased, but I've got a lot of my free time invested in this place as it is today, which will be wiped out with the new format.

As some who has primarily used the mobile site it is brilliant to use the desktop site and feel that closer link to the club whilst browsing. I wish I had done it more! As long as you can try and retain some of the features like the banners and trophies. I haven’t logged onto the test site yet!

The test site isn't going to be on V6 just yet, as the new format is still in the development stage and not available as yet. As soon as I start work on the new version, I'll give you all the heads up on here, matey.

I go on mostly on my laptop during the day at work and then sometimes in the evening. My mobile usually used if I'm up early, out and about at the weekend for live match tweets or shacked up in a hotel somewhere.
I'll definitely miss the desktop look and feel. You've especially done a fantastic job with the banners over the years, gazz. The Remembrance Day banner has an emotional impact on everyone, I'm sure. Even little touches that we probably all now over look, like the New Post icon, really add to CH.
I'll definitely miss it.

I honestly wasn't fishing for feedback, just highlighting to Downy that, while he may not miss the forum as it exists today, there's a lot of work gone into it that will be lost for good when we move to the new format - a bland, Sterile format that won't look anything like this place.
